For the last fifteen years, KIIT has set benchmarks in providing affordable and high quality education. The journey has been incredible and arduous.
What began as a single room ITI institute way back in the early 90s stands today as a sprawling University spread across 20 campuses and 25 square km. of area.
Such a journey wouldn’t have been possible without the singular focus on research-driven quality education backed by world-class educational infrastructure.
There are several factors that clearly differentiate KIIT from other similar educational institutes. First, an emphasis on behavioural aspects that makes our graduates receptive to new ideas and fit into the corporate culture. Secondly, inculcation of societal responsibilities so that each student is groomed to have empanthy for the environment and the society at large.
As we tread the difficult path to keep educational standards high and relevant to all the stakeholders, I urge you to keep contributing positively to this great institution to take it into even greater heights of educational excellence.

JOURNEY TO EXCELLENCE
A Unique JourneyIn today’s knowledge-based economy, KIIT has been able to live up to society’s expectations. Its unique focus on quality education with humane touch has resulted in its transformation from a small technical Institute to a world class University within the shortest span of time. The growth of KIIT as a world-class University spreading over 25 sq. km. of prime land in 20 lush green sprawling campuses in a built-up area of 7.5 million square feet in Eastern Indian is incredible indeed.
KIIT Society had a modest beginning in 1992 with a vocational training centre and a tribal school, which has now grown into the largest free residential tribal institute in the world in the name and style Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). KIIT took shape as an institute in 1997, and it was declared a University (u/s 3 of UGC Act of 1956) in 2004, within only six years of commencement of Degree programmes, thus earning it a place in the Limca Book of Records.
KIIT, now a multi-disciplinary University with 23 constituent Schools offering diverse programmes, has proved itself to be the much sought after higher educational centre of the country. With 18000 students pursuing both graduation and post-graduation studies in Engineering , MCA, Management, Rural Management, Law, Biotechnology, MBBS, MD, BDS, Nursing, Fashion Technology, Cinema & Mass Media Studies, Language and Sculpture, KIIT stands out as a class of its own both in quality and quantity. Student community of the University is highly disciplined due to its student friendly policies, setting it apart from other institutes.
Intellectual CapitalKIIT is a well structured and decentralized organization. It is perhaps the only self-financing institution in the country where top functionaries, including Chancellor and Vice Chancellor, are renowned academicians. Each school is headed by a Director / Dean / HoD, who is a distinguished academician. It has a teacher-student ratio of 1:12.
A 1000-strong team of faculty, scientists and researchers form the intellectual capital of KIIT University. The faculty of the University are drawn from Institutions of repute such as IITs, IIMs, XLRI, IISc, JNU, etc. The quality is amply demonstrated by the patents held by various faculty members, the-state-of-the-art labs, the research grants coming from various agencies both in India and abroad, national and international conferences, symposiums and workshops held here. The University has also established a Centre for Scientific Research with seed money of US$ 1.2 million, the only private University in the country to establish such a centre.
KIIT uniquely promotes students research and projects of its students have the distinction of being appreciated at national and international forum, including being selected for the prestigious Indian Science Congress.
Knowledge AllianceThe institute has entered into academic partnership with more than 50 world-class Universities. In order to promote knowledge sharing and collaborative research KIIT has entered into the elite group of associations and organizations including the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), International Association of Universities (IAU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), International Association of Universities Presidents (IAUP) and University Mobility in Asia and Pacific (UMAP). KIIT also has the pride of housing UMAP International Secretariat for India.
KIIT GreenTo preserve mother nature, KIIT has embarked on an ambitious plan to have a pollution-free, environment-friendly campus. The initiatives include mega plantation drives, vehicle-free zones, rain water harvesting, water management, biogas, solar energy etc.
KIIT has a teacher-student ratio of 1:12 and has partnerships with 50 world-class Universities
