7th Grade Course Requirements

RELA—Reading /English/Language Arts

Athletics or PE—Must have 2 years combined during middle school

Boys Athletics Sport include:

• Cross Country Running

• Soccer

• Track & Field

Athletics• Students are required to dress out in a KMS

athletic uniform & appropriate shoes.

• Students must have a physical and birth certificate in order to participate—physical forms can be found on KMS website.

• If a student does not make a team they will be in off season which involves conditioning and running

• Athletics is ALL YEAR.

Cheer

• Cheer is not on course card. Students must try out to make squad.

• Information about Cheer Tryouts is posted on KMS website.

• Cheer is a fall semester class that counts as a ½ middle school PE credit.

Pre-AP Classes

• Math, RELA, Science, and Social Studies

• Homework expectations are higher in Pre-AP

• Greater Depth and complexity—More Rigor

• If a student did not take Pre-AP Math in 6th grade but they want to take Pre-AP Math in 7th grade, they will need to earn credit by exam (CBE) to get in

AVID at KMSAVID: Advancement Via Individual Determination

• AVID is a college preparatory class for students in PRE-AP classes. It will help students in Pre-AP classes acquire the skills to be successful in middle/high school AP and help students become college ready.

• Students must take at least one Pre-AP class to be in AVID.
