Sermon Series for October-November Life's Healing Choices is an eight-week series that will allow the idols
of the heart to be exposed. We all experience hurts, habits, hang ups, addictions, and painful consequences when we try to substitute some-thing else into God's rightful place in our hearts. This series will offer
hope in how to identify and strip away these idols and restore Christ to His rightful place as Lord of our lives. Please join us as we explore the secret places in the heart and finally deal with the hurt and pain that's been holding us back. The abundant life that Christ promised is real;
let's get there together!! (Begins Sunday, October 16)

Turn: Remembering Our Foundations by Max Lucado
The author, 2005 spokesman for the National Day of Prayer, offers an interesting perspective on how we view ourselves as a nation. He makes the point that we are a strong, powerful nation that takes great pride in our self-sufficiency – but should we? Do we as a country need to change direction? Using the verse 1 Chronicles 7:14, Max encourages people to turn toward God’s Glory; turn toward God in Prayer; turn toward God’s Word; and turn toward God in Repentance.
Come Rain or Come Shine by Jan Karon
This 13th novel in the Mitford series by Karon picks up where the last left off – with the upcoming marriage of aspiring veterinarian Dooley Kavanagh and his longtime sweetheart, Lace Harper. Fans of Father Tim won’t be disappointed. He is present with many of the townspeople of Meadowbrook: Cynthia, Harley, Dooley’s brothers and more, who all pitch in and help from the town ‘that takes care of its own.’ The small, low-key wedding at the barn with a potluck supper and music by Tommy’s band the Ham Biscuits and Lace’s friend Beth, turns out to be filled with to-do lists and weather concerns. As always, Karon turns small moments that fill life into memorable events of laughter and tears.
The church library is open on Sunday mornings, between services, and again after second service!

KIDS FOR KIDS! Our goal is to provide 6 pregnant
goats to give to families in need in
Zimbabwe, Africa.
“Goatees for Goats”
(A fun way to raise awareness for this project!)
Meet our goal and watch Pastor Marc (& others*) shave, dye or be creative
with their goatees!
AFCA IS RAISING FUNDS TO START A BREEDING /
MULTIPLICATION CENTER IN MATOPOS, ZIMBABWE.
(This is where our 2016 Summer Missions’ teams served.) Three pregnant goats will be given to
each selected family from the community, giving children infected and/or affected by AIDS a
sustainable solution to hunger. They will also receive seeds for gardens, training, vaccines for
their animals, and support. Tara Fisher (who has grown up here at LAEFC) will be AFCA’s intern
for six months at this site, using her Animal Science degree to provide training and help
to the community.
Our LAEFC Missions’ teams have set a goal to provide 40 of these pregnant goats to get this
project underway. We have invited the church family to join in the fun.
“Kids for Kids” As families, individuals, a Sunday School class, small group, etc., you can
donate one of these goats for $250 or pledge toward one. For those providing a goat, ‘Naming
Rights’ are given — so be creative!
“Goatees for Goats” Many of our LAEFC men will be growing goatees to draw awareness
to the program or raise additional funds. Some are considering dying, shaving, or being crea-
tive with established goatees as incentives for children and teens to meet their goals. Pick up
information cards in the lobby for an easy explanation to anyone inquiring about your goatee!
“Coffee House” The Missions’ teams will be hosting an evening of fun on Saturday,
December 10. At that time, we will celebrate how God has provided and also hear from Tara
and others in Zimbabwe (through video) how things are going on site. Free coffee and desserts
will be available. Donations encouraged.
“Photos of Kids with Kids” Photo sessions are being organized to photograph anyone
interested with these baby goats. Word will be spread when specifics are in place. Perhaps a
perfect Christmas photo!
PLEASE STOP THE LOBBY COUNTERS FOR MORE INFO
ON HOW TO JOIN THE FUN!

AN ALL-CHURCH CHRISMAS J-ROCK
2016!
October 9 – November 20
Imagine a child in a war-torn, poverty-stricken nation receiving his/her first ever Christmas gift from
YOU...packed in a shoebox! Imagine the joy of working on this project as a family or with a friend,
choosing just the right items for your child thousands of miles away. Imagine the community of
Jonestown being invited to join us in this project and to be a part of the dedication service on
November 20. Not only will the Gospel be shared with these dear children, but the Gospel will also be
shared at the dedication service for our community guests. Operation Christmas Child is sponsored
by Franklin Graham’s Samaritan Purse. Over 10,000,000 shoeboxes were delivered to needy children
last year. The committee for our church and community is now forming. If you wish to be a part in
organizing this church-wide, community J-Rock event, please contact coordinator, Sherrie Stohler at
717-283-8570. Please pray that the Lord would do exceedingly more than we could ever ask or think!
