                        Resources at the University of Louisville for Autism Spectrum Disorder‐Pre‐admission counseling. High school students, transfer students, or returning adult students ‐University of Louisville requires the ACT (American College Test) for admission into degree‐granting units of the university. Applicants with documented ASD are encouraged to seek accommodations on the ACT (may include extra time and testing in a reduced distraction environment). Accommodation on University placements tests may also be available. ‐Disability‐related academic advising and planning that is supplemental to academic advising. ‐Supplemental note takers for eligible students. ‐Textbooks on tape or electronic format for eligible students. ‐Testing accommodations for eligible students. These accommodations may include additional time, reduced distraction environment, and other appropriate accommodation. ‐Advocacy for/by students is a high priority at the DRC, which may include intervention with faculty and instructors as appropriate. ‐Provision to faculty of information about autism spectrum disorder ‐Career Advising and Personal Counseling is provided through the Counseling Center. ‐REACH (Resources for Academic Achievement) is the University of Louisville’s centralized academic support unit designed for undergraduate students. It provides math tutoring, general tutoring, computer tutoring, and study skills. ‐University Writing Center supports writers and the teaching of writing. The center provides a comfortable place to write, to collaborate with other writers, and to use writing resources.

Other services:Kelly Autism Program ‐‐ College and Circle of SupportAny person graduating from high school with a college bound diploma who meets both WKU and KAP Circle of Support requirements can complete an application. The interested student needs to first apply to and be admitted to Western Kentucky University. To enroll in the main campus, you must meet WKU’s entrance requirements for English, foreign language, math and have an ACT score of at least 22 (or SAT score of 930) or have a GPA of 3.0. If you do not meet WKU’s main campus requirements, you may still enroll at the Commonwealth School. Besides offering courses to fulfill those requirements, the Commonwealth School offers two‐year associate degrees. After the individual has received notification of acceptance he or she needs to contact the Kelly Autism Program and request an intake packet. He or she will complete the intake packet and return it to KAP. After KAP reviews the intake packet we will contact you to schedule an interview. During this process we will review your packet and determine if you would be a good candidate for our program.Http://www.wku.edu/kellyautismprogram/collegeandcircleofsupport.php

Students with a disability requiring accommodations must request such services through the Office of Admissions on the Cumberland and Whitesburg campuses and the Counselor's Office on the Middlesboro campus.  Students with disabilities must provide documentation certifying their disabilities.  A representative from the Office of Admissions or the Counselor's Office will meet with the student to assess the need and to discuss access to accommodations.  The college representative will act as the liaison between the student and the accommodation provider and act to facilitate such reasonable accommodations as may be required.

These accommodations may include such services as classroom accommodations on tests and exams; note‐taking; taping of classroom lectures; assistance with class scheduling and selection; tutorial services; referral to Department of Vocational Rehabilitation; personal counseling; and teaching, encouragement, and reinforcement of self advocacy skills.
