Homework will consist of a writing or comprehension activity, section/s from their Mental Arithmetic booklets and any practise papers to hep prepare for the SATs. During the second half of the term the class will be introduced to their project homework. TRIPS/EVENTS Year 5 and 5 K-Nex challenge—30th April SATs— Week of 13th May Cycle Training—20th May Half term—27th-31st May INSET—3rd June Non-uniform (tombola) - 7th June Summer Fair—15th June School Journey— 17th June Open display evening—10th July Secondary Transfer day—11th July Sports day—12th July Year 6 performance and Leaver’s assembly— 22nd July 7pm Your Child’s School Day LADBROOKE JMI SCHOOL Literacy During this term we will be covering units that include, journalistic writing, figurative language, biography skills and non-chronological reports. We will continue to develop our comprehension skills through explicit lesson as well as our guided reading sessions. We will also be working through a range of Key Stage 3 transitional activities, including studying a range of texts written by William Shakespeare. Maths This term, the children will continue to further develop confidence and skills in key concepts such as, properties of shape, angles, statistics, ratio, position and direction, as well as key preparation for their tests in May and secondary school in September. They will continue to be taught a separate Arithmetic lesson which will focus on rapid response and showing workings. PE PE continues to be on a Wednesday afternoon with Mr Palmer where the children will be concentrating on Games, as well as the usual Thursday morning session, with Mrs Corke, where we will be focusing Gymnastics and Dance. AFRICA

Science

Within our topic lessons, the children will

be:

Identifying and naming the main

parts of the human circulatory

system.

Describing the functions of the

heart, blood vessels and blood.

Describing the way in which

nutrients and water are

transported within animals,

including humans.

Demonstrating their understanding

of the principles of being healthy.

Finding out about the effects of

tobacco, alcohol and drugs can have

on the body.

Making observations and

comparisons.

Recording results in an organised

way.

Interpreting patterns and drawing

conclusions.

We will also be using our Science lessons to

work through our Sex and Relationships

Education.

ICT

Children will be:

Working within a group to understand,

develop, promote and market their

app.

Using feedback to re-design and

Presenting the app including relevant

technical details.

Discussing how the app would be used
