Leadership Task

Using the sticky labels, write individual qualities that you associate with LEADERSHIP. What makes a Great Leader?

Now assign the labels to people in the room who bear the qualities you consider important in a leader and stick them on them.

Why Not?

Because they ARE the LEADERS OF TODAY? YOU ARE ALL THE LEADERS OF TODAY. You don’t have to wait until you can vote; until you

own your own home; have children or have a Masters degree. You are the Leaders of Today – Right NOW!

Those of us that are old often try to maintain the

status quo. Your job is to challenge the Status Quo, to bring about a community/world that matches your values.

How do I challenge the Status Quo?

Be a Leader? But what is Leadership? Leadership is:

Envisioning the futureEmpowering OthersSeeing what needs to be done and doing it; doing the right thing.

Working with others to achieve what you want

True Leadership is NOT:

Power or AuthorityCommand and ControlGiving OrdersHaving power over someone elseMaking people do what you want

LEADERS:

Take INITIATIVES and RISKS. They are PROACTIVE not REACTIVE.

They see the Big(ger) Picture Have INTEGRITY and EMPATHY Trust others and Cooperate Create change and manage change. Envision a future, figure out how to get us there

and help us arrive. LISTEN, Resolve Conflict, Solve problems and

use power constructively.

What is POWER?

Information is power Initiative is power Perseverance is power Vision is Power Creativity and imagination are power Education is power Character and Integrity are power ALL OF WHICH YOU HAVE IN ABUNDANCE
