Leon S. Peters Honors Program Application The faculty, staff and administration of the Clovis Community College Leon S. Peters Honors Program are proud to announce an excellent academic opportunity. The Honors Program offers an enhanced educational experience designed to challenge students with a specially selected curriculum focused on preparing students for transfer to a four-year institution. Eligibility Criteria The following criteria are used to determine eligibility for the program: Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or Graduation in the top 25 percentile of your high school class Completed SCCCD College Instructor Recommendation Form (current college students only) Students must have earned a high school diploma or GED at the time of beginning the honors program. Students must maintain a CUM 3.0 GPA to remain in the honors program. Students who do not maintain a CUM 3.0 GPA will be dropped from the honors program. Student Benefits Honors program students receive many benefits including priority registration, special transfer counseling, recognition on transcripts and scholarship opportunities. Honors Curriculum Students enroll in two honors courses each semester. Art 6H - Art History Engineering 6 – Circuits with Lab English 1AH – Reading and Composition English 1BH – Introduction to Literature English 3H – Critical Reading and Writing History 12H – US History Since 1865 Psychology 2H – General Psychology Political Science 2H – American Government Philosophy 1CH – Ethics Physics 4A, 4B, 4C Communication 1H – Public Speaking Calculus ( Math 5A, 5B, 6 or 17) may count as an Honors course Honors 2A - Honors Seminar – special seminars designed to bring students together to explore special topics or themes Students must enroll in a minimum of one seminar during the program. Application Process Complete an Honors Program application and attach unofficial transcripts from high school and all colleges attended, if applicable. Submit any additional documentation that demonstrates you meet the eligibility criteria. If applicable, please include an unofficial report from the College Board website of your AP scores.
