Scanning to Determine Specific
Meaning and Information
Scanning involves moving your eyes quicklyacross a line or down a page to locate
particular information. You scan the
material to look for a specific information,
such as a date, a definition, or a name and
number in a telephone book. Through
guide questions, you can be easily directed
to the specific meaning and information
you are looking for.

Using Synonyms
You learned in the lower years that synonyms
