Main questions today

network FOT activities at European, national and international level.

What will be achieved in terms of

deployment at the end of the pilot?

What will be achieved in terms of deployment at the end

of the pilot? (Co-cities)

Co-cities is a PSP Pilot:

• Running systems in the cities involved

• Set of tested and validated services (e.g intermodal

routing and feedback loop)

• Regular end users (on their smartphone) and growing

user communities

• Cities and sites that share experiences between them

and discuss next steps

4

• Yes, to share experiences between them and discuss next steps

What will be achieved in terms of deployment at the end

of the pilot? (Compass4D)

• Things promised in the Description of Work

• Sometimes comes true, but needs hard work

5

What will be achieved in terms of deployment at the end

of the pilot? (eCoMove)

– ITS environment at different loactions ready for

further use

– Equiped vehicles with as basis for upcoming

projects

What will be achieved in terms of deployment at the end

of the pilot? (DRIVE C2X)

– User preferences

– Best applications in terms of safety impacts

– Idea of business models

SESSION 3 – DEPLOYMENT & BUSINESS PLANS

What will be achieved in terms of deployment at the end

of the pilot? (MOBINET)

A pre-operational Europe-wide service platform will be

running, the service directory will be populated with a

useful variety of content and services, a MOBiNET

Supplier Community will be growing and there will be

users in various sites in Europe who are routinely using

the MOBiNET app-store and the new breed of apps that

can integrate data & third-party services from across

Europe

Should pilots join forces for promoting

each other’s successful deployment?

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

Should pilots join forces for promoting each other’s

successful deployment? (Co-Cities)

• Yes, to share experiences between them and

discuss next steps

11

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

Should pilots join forces for promoting each other’s

successful deployment? (Compass4D)

• NO meta activity

• Pilots should be focused on their own

deployment (hard enough)

12

Should pilots join forces for promoting each other’s

successful deployment? (eCoMove)

Two-sided: always good to exchange information

but costs of building such a community has to be

weighted against the added benefits

13

Should pilots join forces for promoting each other’s

successful deployment? (DRIVE C2X)

- Mainly a matter of OEMs and infra owners, no

need

- Exchange of information, yes

14

Should pilots join forces for promoting each other’s

successful deployment? (MOBINET)

In principle yes, if these are European co-funded,

but this is subject to there being a good reason to

combine them, and to there not being too serious

barriers to such integration/federation/cooperation...

What can be reused from

your deployment experience?

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What can be reused from your deployment experience?

(Co-Cities)

– Validation Methodology and

– Reference platform with data sets

17

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What can be reused from your deployment experience?

(Compass4D)

• Sometimes:

– Complete deployable solutions (FREILOT)

– Methodology

– Data sets

18

What can be reused from your deployment experience?

(eCoMOve)

Lessons Learnt in eCoMove are i.e. data tool chain

(Java OSGI Framework with map, cooperative

horizon, or the Matlab tool for data analysis, to

identify errors in the deployment phase)

19

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What can be reused from your deployment experience?

(DRIVE C2X)

- The project still on-going

- User reactions and preferences

20

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What can be reused from your deployment experience?

(MOBINET)

– the project is just starting

What added-value could a

community of pilots bring?

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What added-value could a community of pilots bring?

(CoCities)

If you have a well validated solution at the end of your

project

– Critical mass of cities/ regions

– Easy access for others through sharing of

experiences, best practices etc..

23

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What added-value could a community of pilots bring?

(Compass4D)

• Support for methodology

– Commitment

– Evolution

• Support for meta-analysis

– Commitment to (meta) data formats

– Make data available

24

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What added-value could a community of pilots bring?

(eCoMove)

Knowledge of coop technology impacts i.e.

acceptance, driving behaviour and system

performance, environment

25

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What added-value could a community of pilots bring?

(DRIVE C2X)

• Raising awareness

26

www.fot-net.eu | www.fot-net.eu |

What added-value could a community of pilots bring?

(MOBINET)

– it is urgent to find a way in Europe to propagate the results of what are often very limited trials (especially in cooperative ITS), to the very large number of potentially interested places, companies, users etc. who would actually invest and use the applications/services/systems

– project results need to be “packaged” so that they become a “solution-in-a-box”, that any potential user can buy off the shelf and quickly & easily deploy;

– MOBiNET will become a Europe-wide community of application and service providers and aims to help this process
