Modtech Holdings supplies specialty chemicals, including Caustic Soda (flakes or pearls) and Sulphuric Acid, sold primarily to industrial customers.

Our caustic soda producers and suppliers are located in China. The caustic soda is produced by the ion exchange membrane process. Modtech Holdings is looking at implementing a dissolution process to produce lye out of the flakes and pearls sourced from China.

Caustic soda is a strong base chemical and has a wide variety of applications:

· Mining elution stripping of gold from activated carbon

· Neutralising agent in extraction of base metals (Cu,Ni,Co)

Sulphuric acid is a colourless, corrosive liquid. South Africa produces and consumes around 3 million tons per year of sulphuric acid, the majority of which is used for making phosphate fertilizers. Sulphuric acid has a wide variety of other uses in the chemical and mining industries.

Modtech Holdings sources the sulphuric acid locally and exports into Southern Africa.
