ONEREPUBLICSome groups become legendary, as Nirvana, U2, Green Day ... But some of them just come and go, and even if you don’t hear much about them in years, you can still sing along when one of their songs airs on the radio. That’s basically what happened most of the time when we heard a OneRepublic song. But guess what ?! They’re back ! Back with a brand new album, full of new amazing songs made of modern rythms and great lyrics. Check it out ! by Emma Garniaux

One Republic new album Native is out ! Wait first, just a friendly reminder of who OneRepublic is : the group is

composed of Ryan Tedder , Zach Fil-kins, Eddie Fisher, Brent Kutzle, Drew Brown (and formerly Tim Myers). It’s a PopRock group whose music anyone can enjoy! Even if we always say that the second album is never better or as good as the first, OneRepublic proved everybody wrong by making a totally different album. The sound may have changed but the style is the same : entertaining. Native came out in March

2013 and made it through the top of every Charts in less than a month, « If I loose myself » and « Counting Stars » are some of the most listened songs of the Summer.Native is a masterpiece which was worth waiting for! The fans may

Bastille are a four piece band from London, formed in 2010, fronted by Dan Smith whose bir-thday falls on July 14, the same

day as Bastille Day, which is where they

got their name from. At the beginning, Bastille was actually Dan’s solo project but now there are Chris “Woody” Wood, Kyle Simmons and Will Farquarson, too.

Their debut album, “Bad Blood”, hit UK Album charts as No. 1. They have toured extensively around the UK and around the world. Bastille are actually beco-ming bigger than they were, with shows all over the world in the most important music festivals, an huge crowd of fans and winning over R&B’s songs’ hits in radios. The indie rock band already released two albums, “Bad Blood” and “All This Bad Blood”, a huge success for

the band and the talent of Smith, who actually wrote all the songs of Bastille’s albums.

2014 has been quite an amazing year for our boys who started this year with a big event: Bastille performed at the BRIT Awards 2014 with Rudimental (another incredible band) and won a “totally unexpected” award for the ‘Bri-tish Breakthrough Act’.

Imagine Dragons are an American alternative rock band from Las Vegas. The group is composed of 4 members: Daniel Platzman the

drummer, Ben Mckee the bass player, Dan Reynolds the singer, and Wayne Sermon the guitarist. Dan Reynolds met Wayne Sermon and they moved to Las Vegas where later on Daniel Platz-man and Ben Mckee joined them. The 4 boys played at casinos and others bars when the famous productor Alex Da Kid noticed the band. In 2012 Imagine Dra-gons released their first album «Night

Visions» and began a world tour. The group is known by means of their title «It’s time» and became more famous thanks to «Radioactive» well known in the movie «The host». In January, the band performed live during the 56th Grammy Award Cere-mony and their performance was consi-dered as the best of the ceremony. The band announced the recording of their second album. So we can’t wait for the new electrifying and lively sounds of Imagine Dragons to come out !

Junk food is what you can eat in fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s or KFC.It’s unhealthy and dangerous

because you can put on weight and become diabetic. Why? Because it contains a handful of chemicals that raise ‘bad’ cholesterol levels, increase diabetes risk, lower immunity, and damage DNA.

Still lovin’ it?McDonald’s menus contain nasty health-eroding chemicals: trans-fats, high levels of sugar, artificial sweete-ners, petro-chemicals, and high-fruc-tose corn syrup. The kids meals and salads also contain frightening ingre-dients and high levels of sugar.

Did you know that many of their foods and drinks contain tertiary butylhydro-quinone (TBHQ), a chemical preser-vative that is so deadly that just five grams is fatal? One gram of TBHQ can cause nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse.

Each day, one-quarter of the adults in the United States visit fast food restau-rants, spending more than $110 billion dollars in the year 2000. Junk Food is responsible for the high obesity rates in the US.

To avoid this we should eat balanced meals and do sports!

The Seattle Seahawks won their first Super Bowl, humbling Den-ver Brancos and their quarter-back: Peyton Manning with the

score of 43-8. We will remember the performance of the Seattle Defence, dominating the Denver Offense. The ground game was non-existent (27 yards) for the Broncos. Let’s not for-get Malcolm Smith (Seahawks line backer) author of a touchdown, ama-zing interception and fumble covered. He was awarded with the title of MVP Best Superbowl Player.Regrettably we did not really see Seattle’s cornerback star Richard Sherman play. Indeed, three tackles and a knee injury were enough to force him to return to the locker room before the game even started.What a shame!

2013 STAMPED BY THE ALL BLACKS!In 2013 one team dominated the lost land. The All Blacks entered the legacy as they won 14 games. They domina-ted the South Nations during the Four Nations Cup and then humbled the North Nations in November. A rare performance for the bast team of all nations.

They dominated the championship as they won 14 games compared to their performance in 1989 when they won 7 games only. It was their best perfor-mance since 1989! So we can naturally ask ourselves if they are actually the best team of all times. In 1905 New Zealand improvised their first Haka dance ritual in front of their Scottish opponents. This dance’s wellknown moves are aggressive and impressive as their hands collide iwith their torso, they look truly amazing! They are inspired by the legendary Ka-mate performed by a handful of Maori warriors, their bodies covered in Maori traditional tattoos.

HAKA: AN IMPRESSIVE RITUAL! In the lead up to the Rugby World Cup in 2011, flashmob hakas became a po-pular way of expressing support for the All Blacks. Some Maori leaders thought it was «inappropriate» and a «bastardi-sation» of the traditional war cry.Haka dances include many different body moves. Facial contortions such as showing the whites of the eyes and poking out the tongue, vigorous body actions such as slapping the hands against the body and stamping of the feet. A variety of cries and grunts are used. Haka may be understood as a kind of symphony in which the different parts of the body represent many instruments. The hands, arms, legs, feet, voice, eyes, tongue and the body as a whole combine to express courage, annoyance, joy or other fee-lings relevant to the purpose of the occasion.The haka is a traditional genre of Māori dance. On April 13th this year, Banksy signed a new street piece in the town of Cheltenham in Great Britain. Officially it may

not be by Banksy. Indeed the myste-rious street artist didn’t say he was the author yet. The technique and stencil figures look very similr to the ones he already did. This one represents three spies with microphones and wires monitoring a phone booth. It implicitly refers to our society. Given the growing numbers of

CCTV surveillance cameras which record our every moves, we feel like our go-vernments spy on us, stealing away our private lives. The Government Commu-nications Headquarters based in Chel-tenham is a British intelligence agency responsible for providing signals intelli-gence and information assurance to the British government and armed forces. Banksy is famous for his political and controversial messages. That’s why he tries to remain anonymous. Yet his work has become famous now and very

easy to spot! Banksy told his friend, author Tristan Manco: “As soon as I cut my first stencil I could feel the power there. I also like the political edge. All graffiti is low-le-vel dissent, but stencils have an extra history.
