HOMEGROUP HAPPENINGS!

‘Hooray For Diffendoofer Day’ Well done to the Yellow HG for their efforts in the school production rehearsals. You should all be very proud of yourselves. Good luck tonight, it will be great!

On Tuesday we had our whole class reward, we had a teddy bear picnic! We had our picnic in the Ruby Red classroom because it was raining, but that didn’t matter because everyone was so excited! Thank you to the parents/guardians who helped their child bring along something healthy and yum to share for

our picnic. The students had such a wonderful day and loved having their teddy with them at school.

SCHOOL ORGANISATION EARN AND LEARN AT WOOLWORTHS From the 26th of July to September 19th Earn and Learn will be happening at Woolworths. For every 10 dollars you spend you will earn one Woolworths Earn and Learn sticker. The stickers can be put on a Sticker sheet. The sticker sheet can be dropped in a collection box which will be kept outside the office. The stickers will help the school to get educational resources.

CENTREPAY We are currently in the process of setting up Centrepay at Nilma, as another option for families to pay for the Essential Educational Items and Excursion Levy charges. If you are interested in this option please register your name at the Office and we will send to you further information once Centrepay has been finalised.

LOST PROPERTY We have had a number of students that have misplaced jumpers over the past few weeks. We would appreciate it if families could please check the names on their jumpers to make sure the wrong ones haven't accidently been taken home! FOOTY COLOURS DAY Students are able to come dressed in their favourite team colours on Friday 15th September for Footy Colours Day! Students can bring along a gold coin donation. Hot Dogs will be available for $2.50 each at Lunchtime. Order forms will be sent home next week.

FRIDAY HOT LUNCHES Friday 15th September will be the last day for Hot Lunches this term. Please have your orders and payment in by 9.30am on Wednesday morning.

I’m not sure where the last week went. Like many others this latest ‘bug’ knocked me for a

‘six’ (ask the kids what that means by the way). I hope you’re feeling on top again.

Last time we spoke ‘Acts of Service’ was very much centred on the parent getting the child

to serve them. This week I’m hoping that the ‘act of serving’ will stretch into a wider

community. It can start with ‘a parent modelling (not telling the child to do it)’simple

things like picking up rubbish and placing it in a plastic bread bag for later when a bin is

handy – this is focusing on the environment. If you’ve got a good strong stomach you

could use another bag to remove a stray dogs faeces from the footpath, showing them how to express the air

and then tie a very strong knot to keep the smells at bay. If this is a problem in your area in particular, then

get the kids to hold the bags up and take a photo – send it into the Gazette with a note of their names and a

commendation for excellence, naming the street if that is helpful for the Shire to ‘tag’ the problem.

Some acts of service are done quietly behind the scene, others can be more challenging like, writing to the

Baw Baw Shire if you have noted an uneven concrete block that might cause tripping, (use good reasoning in

your covering note, especially if there are many elderly using the path or those with poor balance). Why

don’t you practice with the school; send a note to the school paper with a photo. You never know, we may

be raising future politicians and if they have had this sort of practice in their youth, they will have a greater

understanding of community needs in their chosen profession.

Enjoy a break for the weekend. Mrs P
