Moss sê die koste kan baie hoog wees as ’n spesialis in die leierskapsvorm gegiet word waarin hy of sy nie pas nie. Korn Ferry se navorsing toon die koste van so ’n verkeerde identifikasie kan tot $47 miljoen wees – “plus die koste van ’n loopbaan wat in die verkeerde rigting gedruk is.” Selfs as ’n mens die skaalver- skille tussen die Suid-Afrikaanse en Amerikaanse sakewêreld in gedagte hou, sal hierdie koste in Suid-Afrika waarskynlik ook der- miljoene wees, sê Moss. Navorsing deur die talentsoe-kers Korn-Ferry in die VSA werp nuwe lig op die uitdagings om

te onderskei tussen iemand wat ’n toekomstige leier (’n hoëpo-tensiaal-kandidaat) is en ’n vaar-dige spesialis (’n hoogs profes-sionele kandidaat).

Dit bepaal onder meer dat daar nie teen ie-mand gediskrimineer mag word as hy gestremd is nie. Die wet verplig werkge-wers ook om onbillike diskriminasie uit hul beleidskodes en praktyke te verwy-der.

Dit is nie onbillike diskriminasie om iemand nie vir ’n pos te oorweeg as hy nie aan sekere kriteria voldoen of vir ’n spesifieke pos geskik is nie. Iemand met baie beperkte sig kan byvoorbeeld nie as ’n vragmotorbestuurder aangestel word nie.

As jy minder as dié bedrag verdien, isjy kragtens wet geregtig op oortydbetaling en kan jou werkgewer nie weier om jou oortyd te be-taal nie.

’n Werknemer wat meer as dié bedrag verdien, het nie ’n reg op oortydbetaling nie, maar hy kan met sy werkgewer onderhandel oor oortydvergoeding.

Die drempelbedrag verwys na jou bruto salaris, dus voor aftrekkings soos vir be-lasting en medies.

As jou man minder as die drempelbe-drag verdien, moet hy die saak drin-gend met die werkgewer bespreek. Hy kan dit ook na die department van ar-beid verwys.

Mag  ontvangsdame  weier  om krediteureklerk  se  werk  te  doen?Ek werk as ’n ontvangsdame wat ook administratiewe werk doen. Toe ek by

die onderneming begin werk het, is daar aan my gesê dat ek slegs in die ontvangs sal werk en ook basiese admi-nistratiewe funksies soos liassering en die uitboek van skryfbehoeftes sal han-teer.

My werkgewer het my verlede week gevra om in die krediteure-afdeling uit te help en ek het geweier omdat ek nie daarvoor aangestel is nie.

My werkgewer het my toe ’n finale skriftelike waarskuwing gegee omdat ek volgens hom ’n wettige opdrag geweier het en ook vir growwe insubordinasie. Ek is baie ongelukkig, want ek is nie as ’n krediteureklerk aangestel nie, maar wel as ’n ontvangsdame. Ek meen ek het binne my regte opgetree deur te weier.
