Lucitone Digital Fuse™ 3D Denture Bonding System

Safety Note: Fuse steps should be done under proper ventilation. Use of personal protective equipment is recommended.

    1. Plug in the electric hot plate and set the temperature to 90˚C.

Note: If the electric hot plate is not digital, set to 100˚C.

Allow the electric hot plate to preheat for at least ten (10) minutes.

Note: The temperature setting may need to be adjusted slightly from the recommended setting due to several factors.

    2. Place IPN 3D™ Digital Denture Teeth into respective pockets to check for a dry fi t. When necessary, use dental burs or tools to remove ‘sprues’ from teeth.

Lucitone Digital Fuse™ Step 1 - 3D Tooth Conditioning Agent

    1. Shake the bottle of Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 1 - 3D Tooth Conditioning Agent to ensure contents are thoroughly mixed. Pour enough Fuse Step 1 into the round metal container to fi ll to top of the foam insert.

Caution: Using an inadequate amount of Fuse Step 1 will compromise tooth bond strength.

Caution: Keep the metal container and the foam insert free of any solid buildup to avoid compromising tooth bond strength.

    2. Use tweezers to place up to fourteen (14) IPN 3D Digital Denture Teeth into the pockets so that the teeth are positioned with the ridge lap down and in contact with the liquid. If the liquid is not level with the top of the foam insert, add additional Fuse Step 1 to the metal container. Immediately replace the lid on the container.

    3. Place the tooth-fi lled container inside the metal ring of the electric hot plate until the 40°C rectangle on the temperature strip turns green (normally in four (4) to six (6) minutes).

Caution: Tooth bond strength will be compromised if 40˚C is not reached or if higher warming temperatures are used to accelerate the process.

    4. Carefully remove the metal container from the electric hot plate. Remove the lid from the metal container and use tweezers to retrieve the teeth. Allow teeth to air dry for a minimum of two (2) minutes. Do not wipe teeth.

    5. Place the lid back on the metal container immediately. Do not return the metal container to the electric hot plate until ready to treat the next set of teeth.

Lucitone Digital Fuse™ Step 2 – 3D Denture Bonding Resin

Standard Technique (1 of 2 Techniques)

    1. Apply a small amount of Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 – 3D Denture Bonding Resin original shade in the tooth pockets (two (2) teeth at a time). Be careful not to place resin in adjacent pockets. Insert teeth into tooth pockets and apply pressure to occlusal surface. Hold in place while removing excess resin material from buccal side using 4x4 gauze.

Note: Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 is available in shade matched equivalents to Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Resin. Fuse 2 original shade may be used as a universal fusing option for all denture resin shades, with the exception of dark reddish pink.

    2. While continuing to hold teeth in place, use the UV light to tack-cure buccal sides of the two (2) teeth for ten (10) seconds.

PRO TIP: Place fi nger over the adjacent tooth socket to keep excess resin from curing.

    3. Remove excess resin from lingual side using 4x4 gauze. While continuing to hold teeth in place, tack-cure for ten (10) seconds.

PRO TIP: Place fi nger over the adjacent tooth socket to keep excess resin from curing.

    4. Repeat this process to fuse the remaining teeth into the denture base (two (2) teeth at a time).

Caution: Tooth bond strength will be compromised if 40˚C is not reached or if higher warming temperatures are used to accelerate the process.

    Advanced Full-Over-Full Technique (2 of 2 Techniques)

    ANTERIOR TEETH

    1. Fill the anterior tooth pockets of one arch with Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 – 3D Denture Bonding Resin. Ensure no excess resin is placed in the adjacent posterior tooth pockets.

Note: Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 is available in shade matched equivalents to Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Resin. Fuse 2 original shade may be used as a universal fusing option for all denture resin shades, with the exception of dark reddish pink.

PRO TIP: The resin should be fi lled to the margin lines to prevent gaps or bubbles underneath the teeth.

Caution: Do not underfi ll the tooth pockets. This may compromise the bond strength.

    2. Place teeth in the anterior tooth pockets and apply pressure to occlusal of the teeth so that teeth are fully seated.

Pro-Tip: To fi ll small gaps around the margin lines, add extra resin using a Flocked Applicator Tip.

    3. While holding the teeth in place, remove excess resin from the buccal side of the teeth using a 4x4 gauze.

    4. Continue to hold the teeth in place. Use the UV Tack-Cure Light to tack-cure the buccal side of the anterior teeth three (3) teeth at a time for ten (10) seconds.

    5. Continue to hold the teeth in place. Use 4x4 gauze to remove excess resin from the lingual side of the anterior teeth and then tack-cure three (3) teeth at a time for ten (10) seconds.

    6. Repeat steps 1 – 5 for opposing denture.

Caution: Do not underfi ll the tooth pockets. This may compromise the bond strength.

    POSTERIOR TEETH

    7. Fill all posterior tooth pockets in the upper arch with Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 – 3D Denture Bonding Resin.

Note: Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 is available in shade matched equivalents to Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Resin. Fuse 2 original shade may be used as a universal fusing option for all denture resin shades, with the exception of dark reddish pink.

Pro-tip: The resin should be fi lled to the margin lines to prevent gaps or bubbles underneath the teeth.

Caution: Do not underfi ll the tooth pockets. This may compromise the bond strength.

    8. Place teeth in the posterior tooth pockets and apply pressure to the occlusal of the teeth so that teeth are fully seated.

Pro-Tip: To fi ll small gaps around the margin lines, add extra resin using a Flocked Applicator Tip.

    9. While holding the teeth in place, remove excess resin from buccal, lingual and occlusal surface of the teeth using a 4x4 gauze.

    10. Repeat steps 7-9 for the lower denture.

    11. Place the upper and lower denture in occlusion and align the mid-line of the denture bases. Apply fi rm pressure to obtain proper occlusion.

Caution: If resin comes out of the pockets during this step, it must be wiped from the occlusal surface prior to tack-cure. Otherwise, the opposing arches will stick together.

    12. While holding the upper and lower arch in occlusion, tack-cure the buccal side of the posterior teeth four (4) at a time (2 upper and 2 lower teeth) for ten (10) seconds.

Caution: Do not underfi ll the tooth pockets. This may compromise the bond strength.

Caution: If resin comes out of the pockets during this step, it must be wiped from the occlusal surface prior to tack-cure. Otherwise, the opposing arches will stick together.

    13. Separate the arches and remove excess resin from the lingual side of the teeth using a 4x4 gauze.

    14. While holding the teeth in place, tack-cure the lingual side of the posterior teeth two (2) at a time for ten (10) seconds.

    Lucitone Digital Fuse™ Step 3 - 3D Denture Sealer

    1. Use a Flocked Applicator Tip to apply a thin layer of the Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 3 - 3D Denture Sealer around the margins and the interproximal areas of the teeth where Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 – 3D Denture Bonding Resin was applied.

The denture is now ready for post-cure.

  • Q & A

Are all three (3) components of the Lucitone Digital Fuse 3D Bonding System required?  • Yes, all three Fuse steps are required to achieve a cohesive bond. Skipping any of these

steps compromises the bond strength. See Lucitone Digital Print Denture Instructions for Use (IFU).

How much Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 1 - 3D Tooth Conditioning Agent should be placed into the metal container? • Follow the instructions in the Lucitone Digital Print Denture IFU.

Should pre-treated teeth be wiped-off to remove excess material after Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 1? • No, it will compromise bond strength. Teeth should air dry for two minutes.

How often should foam inserts be changed in the metal container? • There is no specific time. Keep metal container free of solid buildup with periodic cleaning

or replacing. If there is solid buildup on the foam insert, it should be discarded and replaced (SKU 906230).

The temperature strip on the top the round metal container does not seem accurate? • Replace unit by ordering a new Metal Container Kit (SKU 905560).

Can teeth pre-treated with Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 1 be stored in advance prior to fusing? • Yes, teeth pre-treated using Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 1 can be stored up to 72 hours prior

to fusing (bonding). Keep pre-treated teeth out of direct light, such as a dark drawer.

Can Lucitone Digital Print 3D Denture Resin or Lucitone HIPA be used to bond teeth instead of the Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2? • No, Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 2 must be used. Use of other materials will result in the cure

being incomplete, thus the teeth will not bond cohesively.

Is it permitted to use any available UV curing light to complete tack-curing in Lucitone Fuse Step 2? • No, only the Dentsply Sirona UV Tack-Cure Light (SKU 906160) is validated for the Lucitone

Digital Print Workflow. Use of other UV lights may result in final appliance inaccuracy.

How should tooth movement during the Fuse step be addressed? • Care is needed in placing teeth prior to tack-curing. Review the Lucitone Digital Print

Denture IFU for step-by-step instructions. Verify that proper materials are used, as well as, the Dentsply Sirona UV Tack-Cure Light (SKU 906160).

What is the process to correct a tooth that was tack-cured incorrectly? • If a tooth is tack-cured in the wrong position, it is recommended to reprint the denture

base. To avoid tooth misplacement, dry fit all teeth prior to tack-curing.

Can Lucitone Digital Fuse Step 3 - 3D Denture Sealer be applied to the entire denture? • No. Doing so may compromise the fit and strength of the appliance.
