BAPTISMS A er 11 am Mass on Sundays except during Lent.  Parents must be registered in the parish, prac cing Catholics, and must have a ended a Bap smal Seminar (2nd WED of each month).  Parents must meet with a priest/deacon to begin process. Godparents must be Catholic, at least 16 years old, confirmed, and prac cing their faith.  

ANOINTING OF THE SICK/MINISTRY TO THE SICK We are happy to help if you or a member of your family is sick or hospitalized.  Please call the main office with the name of the person, name of hospital and room number (preferably as soon as the pa ent is admi ed)   or their address and phone number at home.        MARRIAGE Please call office at least 6‐8 months in advance.

DearParishioners,AsourConfirmationstudentscontinuetomeetwiththeircatechists,mentors,andcoordinators,andpreparethemselvesforthegiftsoftheHolySpiritonOctober19,Iwillnowformallyaskeachofyoutoprayforthemforthenextmonth.ManyofyouhavechildrenorgrandchildrenwhowillbeconfirmedatthatMassatourparishwhichwillbecelebratedbyAuxiliaryBishopFernandCheri,butwhetherornotyouhavechildren,ourConfirmationstudentswantandneedyourprayers.Perhaps,therearelittlepenancesandsacrificesthatyoucandoforthem,aswell.ThatisusuallysomethingIfocusondoingforthematthistimeintheConfirmationprocessmyself.

ThepilgrimstatueofourLadyofFatimawaswellreceivedatSt.JohnoftheCrossparishonSeptember15thand16th.Iknowthatourparishwasrepresentedattheevent,soIwishtothankthoseofyouwhorespondedtotheinvitationtogoandpraywithOurLady.Assheleavesyou,askforherintercession,andhopefully,alltheworldwillgrowclosertoherSon.ThecentennialanniversaryofhermiraculousapparitionatFatimadrawsevercloser.I'mstilloftheopinionthatOctober13thwillbesomethingbiginthecontextofChurch,and,probably,theworld,aswell.Staytuned,andkeepyourselvesgoodandspirituallypreparedforwhateverblessingsandchallengesGodmaygiveusatthetime.

IfinditoddlyconcerningthatwhenItalktoparishionersovertheageof50,manyofthemexplaintometheybelieveourcountryisinabadway,butallofthemseemtostruggleforasolutionastowhattodoaboutit.Whileitiseasytoblametheyoungergenerations(e.g.themillennials),Idon'tthinkthat'swhatGodisthinkingatallaboutthis.Sinaboundsineverygeneration,justasGod'sgraceaboundsevenmoreineverygeneration.WheneverOurLadyhascometotheEarth,usuallytocallherwaywardchildrenbacktotheregularpracticeoftheirFaithandtothesacraments,therehasalwaysbeenmisunderstanding,butIdobelieveOurLady'smessagesatFatimaareclearerthanallherotherapparitions.Marycallsusfaithfullybacktoprayer,penance,andconversionoftheheartsothatwemaybereadytoreceiveworthilythegracesofJesustodirectourlivesmorefirmlyinholyliving.YoursinChrist,

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word Is now available Sunday at the 11  am Mass!  Kids (3 ‐ 5 years old) are invited during the Mass to  join one of our awesome catechists to learn about the Gospel reading with fun ac vi es and then return to their parents before the Offertory.  

If you would like to add a family member or friend to St. Luke’s Intercessory Prayer List, please

An Altar Server Training will occur on OCTOBER 22 from 1 pm un l 3 pm.  Please meet in the Church Community Room.  If your child is interested in becoming a new Altar Server, he or she should be turning at least 10 this year, be in at least 4th grade, have received First Communion, and a end Mass regularly.  Older students are also welcome.  For more informa on or to register, parents can contact John Mi on at (985) 502‐4202.  This is an excellent way to serve St. Luke and for young parishioners to par cipate in the Mass.  But hurry ‐ this will be the very last training of year!

ButtheseEucharisticministersalsodomorethanbringHolyCommuniontothehomeboundwithinourparishboundary.TheyalsobecomeveryimportantcoworkerswithpriestsinreachingouttothosewhocannotmakeittotheChurchanymoreduetoillnessoroldage.Astheygotovisitthosewhoareindifficultsituations,theseministersalsobringbacktothepriestsrequestsfromthehomeboundforAnointingoftheSickandtheSacramentofReconciliation.Indoingthis,theyhaveassistedmanyofthemtomakeadequatespiritualpreparationforthetimewhentheywillreturntoGod.ThetruthisthatwepriestsmightnotreachouttoasmanyhomeboundaspossibleifnotforthehelpoftheseEucharisticMinisters.

Allofuscanactuallybecomepartofthisministryindifferentways.Wedon’treallyneedtobecomeEucharisticMinisterstodoit,either.Justaswecontactamedicaldoctorwhenweareinneedofphysicalhealing,so,also,weshouldcontactourpriestsforspiritualhealing.ThesacramentsoftheAnointingoftheSickandReconciliationaremedicinesforthesoul.Thesickandtheagedwhocannotmakeittochurchanylongercanstillbenefitfromthesesacraments,buttheyneedourhelptomakeitpossible.Ifyouconsideritimportanttobringyourlovedonetothedoctor,alsoconsideritevenmoreimportanttocallthepriesttoseeyourfamilymember,friend,orrelativewhoissick,aged,orhomeboundorinthehospital.
