1. INTRODUCTION
Parle Tilak Vidyalaya Association (PTVA) was established in 1921 to commemorate Lokmanya Tilak by starting with a Marathi mediumschool in Vile Parle, a distant suburb of Bombay, now Mumbai initially with only 4 students. Over the past 99 years, the Institution hasgrown into a reputed large educational organisation with two Primary schools, two Secondary schools, (one English medium and oneICSE school). The Institution also has to its credit three Junior Colleges, three Degree Colleges affiliated to University of Mumbai withUnder Graduate, Post Graduate Courses along with Research Centre for Ph.D. The institute also runs an AICTE approved Institute ofManagement offering Post Graduate Diploma and Degree courses in Management. At present nearly 27,000 students benefit from thealtruism of the Institution.
PTVA entered into its Centennial Year in 2020 and this was celebrated on 9th of June, 2020. Amidst the global pandemic of coronavirusand the subsequent lockdown, the entire programme was aired on YouTube, wherein the Board of Directors of PTVA presented a briefglimpse into the 99 years glorious journey and phenomenal growth of PTVA and expressed gratitude towards its Founder members,donors, former Principals, teachers and Alumni. They spoke about the accolades of the institution and their contribution to the educa-tional field and society at large.
Parle Commerce College was established in June 1960 under the parasol of PTVA. A handsome donation made by Shri MahadevLaxman Dahanukar, a philanthropic industrialist resulted in the College being renamed as M.L. Dahanukar College of Commerce in1962. PTVA’s M. L. Dahanukar College of Commerce has completed 60 Glorious Years in the field of education and is re-accredited with‘B+’ Grade by NAAC in the third cycle. It is one of the oldest and highly sought after Commerce Colleges in Suburban Mumbai cateringto more than 5,000 students every year.
The College offers a wide plethora of courses ranging from a traditional Bachelor and Master of Commerce Degree to the morecontemporary Degree courses in the fields of Management, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Insurance, Financial markets, MassMedia, Information Technology as well as Environment Management.
The College endeavours to develop all round personality of the students. Keeping this goal in mind along with emphasis in academicachievements, due importance is given to the development of co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
The College has been performing consistently in academics with almost cent percent results at the Higher Secondary education levelas well as the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Degree levels. Apart from academic achievements, the College is very successful insports, cultural and social activities. Our students have won prizes at prestigious Inter collegiate cultural events conducted by MumbaiUniversity i.e. Youth Festival, National and International competitions in the areas of music and sports. The students of Natya Mandalhave been regularly winning prizes at various inter collegiate competitions such as INT, Mood Indigo, Lokankika, Mrugjal, Spandan,Sawai, Marathi Vidnyan Parishad etc. Our NSS unit is actively involved in inculcating social and moral values in the minds of the youngstudents by conducting activities such as blood donation, marrow donor registry, street plays, traffic management, tree plantation etc.
Our success can be measured by the achievements of our illustrious alumni who have excelled in the diverse capacities in the fields ofacademics, politics, acting and singing, journalism, social activities and many more. 2. ADMISSION TO UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMMES
PROCEDURE
The entire admission procedure is according to the guidelines set by University of Mumbai. According to a High
Court verdict, preference is given to in-house students for admission to F.Y.B.Com. (on the basis of merit) upto the
sanctioned capacity. All seats of Self-Financing Programmes (Un-Aided Programmes) and vacant seats (if any after
admitting all in-house students to F.Y.B.Com.) are filled according to the University guidelines.
Stage I:
Students seeking admission to the College are required to apply as per the guidelines given by University of
Mumbai with duly filled prescribed form along with the following documents:
1. XII Standard Statement of Marks
2. Caste Certificate (if applicable)
Stage II:
Merit List will be displayed as per University of Mumbai guidelines. Seats are reserved for Backward Class
Students as per Maharashtra Govt. Rules. Students belonging to the Backward Classes are required to submit the
Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the State of Maharashtra
Stage III:
Admission by submitting the College Admission Form and necessary documents.
Stage IV:
A valid Identity Card and Library Card is issued to every bonafide student. It is compulsory for every student to
carry the Identity Card while he/she is on campus. Any loss or damage to the Identity Card must be reported to the
College office and if required the College office will issue a Duplicate Identity Card/Library Card against payment of
Rs.50/-. Students will not be allowed entry to the Examination hall without a valid Identity Card. For University
Examinations, candidates are required to produce their identity cards bearing their photographs attested by the
Principal, along with their Hall Tickets at the examination centres.
ENROLMENT
A student who has passed the S.Y.J.C. Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary
and Higher Secondary Education Mumbai or C.B.S.E. Board or I.C.S.E. Board or an examination recognised
equivalent thereto and who has been admitted in the College, shall apply to the Registrar of University of Mumbai

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
(a) A candidate for being eligible for admission to the degree course of Bachelor of Science - Information Technology, shall
have passed XII standard examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent with
Mathematics and Statistics as one of the subject.
(b) Candidates who have passed Diploma (Three years after Xth Std.) in Information Technology / Computer Technology /
Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Electrical, Electronics and Video Engineering and Allied Branches / Me-
chanical and Allied Branches / Civil and Allied Branches are eligible for direct admission to the Second Year of the
B.Sc.(I.T.) Degree Course. However, the Diploma should be recognized by the Board of Technical Education or any other

4. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
SCHEME OF EVALUATION:
Internal Assessment (wherever applicable), Practical Examination (wherever applicable) and Semester End Exami-
nations for Semesters I, II, III and IV shall be processed by the College while the University shall conduct the
Semester End Examination for Semesters V and VI. The Internal Assessment marks of learners appearing for
Semesters V & VI shall be submitted to the University by the College before the commencement of respective
Semester End Examination.

The performance of the learners (except the course of Foundation Course) will be based on 100 marks Semester
End Examination of 3 hours duration. (Foundation Course will be for 75 marks and 2½ hours duration).
The allocation of marks for Internal Assessment of Foundation Course will be as shown below:

Carry Forward of Marks:
Carry forward of marks in case of a learner who fails in the Internal Assessment and/or Semester End Assessment
and/or Practical Assessment in one or more courses (subjects):
l A learner who FAILS in one or more components (Internal Assessment / Semester End Examination / Practical
Examination) of the course shall reappear for that component of that course. However his/her marks of the
components in which he/she has passed shall be carried forward.

MODE OF CONDUCT OF SEMESTER END ATKT EXAMINATION:
l There will be one ATKT Examination for Semester I, II, III and IV for those who have failed or remained absent.
l The absent learner will be allowed to appear for the examination after following the necessary formalities subject to
the reasons to the satisfaction of the head of the Institution.
l This examination will be held as per University of Mumbai’s Schedule.
PROJECT EVALUATION (FOR UNAIDED COURSES)
l A learner who PASSES IN ALL THE COURSES BUT DOES NOT secure minimum Grade of D in project as applicable
has to resubmit a fresh project till he / she secures a minimum of Grade D.
l The credits and grade points secured by him / her in the other courses will be carried forward and he / she shall be
entitled for grade obtained by them on passing of all the courses.

Eligibility norms to appear for the additional class test or assignment or project for learners who have remained absent:
l If a learner is absent on medical ground or for any reason / emergency beyond the control of the learner, the learner
must apply to the Head of the Institution giving the reason(s) for absence within 8 days of the conduct of the
examination along with the necessary documents and testimonials.
l If a learner is absent for participation in Inter Collegiate events, State or National or International level events,
Training camp or coaching camp organized by authorized University or State or National or International Bodies,
NSS / NCC Events / Camps / Cultural Activities / Sports Activities / Research or any other activities authenticated
by the Head of the Institution, the Head of the Institution shall generally grant permission to the learner to appear for
the additional class test or assignment.
l The Head of the Institution, on scrutiny of the documents and testimonials, may grant the permission to the learner
to appear for the additional examination.
l Students are instructed to check the College Notice Board and with the College Office for the detailed schedule of
fees, time table and procedures for the same.
5. DISCIPLINE AND CODE OF CONDUCT
DISCIPLINE
l Self-discipline is the best discipline. All students are expected to observe rules and regulations currently in force to
enable the smooth working of the College.
l Students are prohibited from doing anything inside or outside the College that will interfere with its orderly admin-
istration or affect its public image. No outside influence, political or any other should be brought into the College
directly or indirectly.
l Students resorting to unfair means at the examinations will be dealt in accordance with the provisions of Govern-
ment of Maharashtra Act No. XXXI of 1982 and Maharashtra Universities Act 1994.
CODE OF CONDUCT
l Students should always wear their valid College Identity card whenever in College or while representing the Col-
lege at any other place. Further, it should be produced whenever demanded by any of the College staff.
l During the conduct of lectures, students should not loiter in the corridors or in and around the College premises.

l All students are expected to wear decent clothes to enhance the image of the College.
l While representing the College at any other place, the student’s behaviour should not be detrimental to the image
of the College.
l In case of any problem, personal or academic, students should report to the Co-ordinator / Vice-Principal / Princi-
pal.
l Students are directed not to bring any outsider into the College premises.
l Students must attend lectures according to the time-table on all working days of the College. Students must not be
absent from lectures and examinations without the prior permission of the Principal. Students are warned that, if
their attendance at lectures is unsatisfactory, their names will not be kept on the College roll.
l In case of illness, a student must apply for leave by post as soon as possible with doctor’s certificate attached to his/
her application and must report to the Principal immediately after resuming the College.
l Students must not attend classes other than their own without the permission of the Principal.
l Conduct of students in the classes as well as on the premises of the College shall be such as will cause no
disturbance to fellow-students and to the other classes.
l Smoking is strictly prohibited in the College premises.
l Students shall do nothing either inside or outside the College that will in any way interfere with its orderly adminis-
tration and discipline.
l No society or association shall be formed in the College and no person shall be invited to address a meeting
without Principal’s prior written permission.
l No students shall collect any money or contribution for picnic, trip educational visit to some place, get-together,
study-notes, charity or any other activity without prior written permission of the Principal.
l In College debates and other meetings, the Chair must be taken by responsible person approved by Principal and
the subject of the debate must have the prior approval of the Principal.
l No students will be allowed to take active part in current politics.
l College has surveillance of CCTV cameras on the entire premises excluding washrooms.
l No student shall communicate any information to or write about matters dealing with College administration to the
media.
l Students are expected to take proper care of the College property and help to keep premises neat and tidy. Caus-
ing damage to the property of College, e.g. disfiguring walls, door, fitting and breaking furniture etc. is a breach of
discipline and the guilty person(s) will be duly punished and shall compensate for the same.
l Students should not leave their books, valuables and other belongings in the class room for any reason. They are
advised to carry the same, whenever they leave their classrooms.
l The College is not responsible for lost property. Students should deposit the property found by them at the office
counter. The owner should claim it after due identification at the office counter.
l Students applying for certificates, testimonials etc. and those requiring the Principal’s signature on any document
or application should first contact the College office. No papers should be brought by students directly to the
Principal for his/her signature.
l Vehicles i.e. Cars, Two wheelers, cycles brought by the students shall be parked at the student’s risk in the place
provided for the purpose. The College is not responsible for any damage to or theft of the vehicles.

l If, for any reason, the continuance of a student in the College is in the opinion of the Principal, detrimental to the
interest of the College, the Principal may ask such a student to leave the College without giving any reason, and
opinion of the Principal in this respect will be final and binding.
l Students joining the College are by that very fact supposed to accept and observe all the rules and regulations of
the College and to undertake to submit the normal enforcement of the same to the satisfaction of the Principal
whose decision in this regard shall be final.
l Matters not covered by existing rules will rest at the absolute discretion of the Principal.
RAGGING PROHIBITED
Government of Maharashtra has notified ragging as a cognizable offence. Anyone reported to be involved in any
act of ragging, will be severely dealt with. Therefore, students are required to refrain from indulging in any form of
ragging.
MOBILE PHONES PROHIBITED
As per the circular received from the University, the students should refrain themselves from using the mobile
phone in the College premises. If any student is found using the mobile anywhere on the College premises (except
in the designated areas) the mobile phone will be confiscated and student will be fined.
6. ATTENDANCE AND GRANT OF TERMS
DEGREE COLLEGE (ORDINANCE 119 & ORDINANCE 120)
Attendance of students is regulated by O.119, O.120 and 1.125. The explanation issued by the University vide circular
No. UG/235/98 dated 3 17/98 relating to O.119 says that “For granting of terms, attendance of 75% of theory, practical
and tutorials (wherever prescribed separately will be required, out of the total number of lectures, practical and tutorials
conducted in the term.”
7. LIBRARY
Our College library is one of the best libraries in the suburbs. It plays a positive role as an essential component of
learning.
Books will issued for 8 days and should be returned within 7 days of issue, otherwise fine of Rs. 10/- per day will be
charged.

Student Aid Fund (SAF):
This is a College fund through which students of all classes of B.Com., B.M.S., B.Com.(A&F), B.Com.(B&I),
B.Com.(F.M.), B.Sc.(I.T.), B.A.M.M.C., B.Com./B.M.S.(Env. Mgt. and Eco.) are given a set of 30 books for a period
of one year. This scheme can be availed by Open, OBC and NT category student having income below Rs 2,00,000/
- per annum. The applicant must submit Annual Income Certificate and Caste Certificate at the time of applying for
SAF. Last year 60 students from B.Com. section and 46 students from Self-Financing Section availed this facility.
Book Bank Scheme:
This scheme is run through University of Mumbai. Through this scheme students of all classes of B.Com., B.M.S.,
B.Com.(A&F), B.Com.(B&I), B.Com.(F.M.), B.Sc.(I.T.), B.A.M.M.C., B.Com./B.M.S.(Env. Mgt. and Eco.) are given a
set of 30 books each. This scheme is applicable only to SC and ST students. Last year 69 students from B.Com.
section and 55 students from Self-Financing Section availed this scheme
Financial Assistance to Needy and Financially Backward Class
This scheme is run by University of Mumbai. 5 students having good academic record, annual income not more
than 1 lac and not more than 25 years of age is eligible for the Scheme.
Financial Assistance to ST Students
This scheme is run by University of Mumbai. This scheme is introduced only for students of the College belonging
to ST category, having annual income not more than 1 lac and not more than 25 years of age.
Gold Card:
It is a Special Library Membership card issued only to the top rank holders of each class, which enables them to
borrow an additional book from the College Library besides the regular one book that could be borrowed with the
help of a regular card.
8. STUDENT WELFARE SCHEMES
GYMKHANA:
The College Gymkhana committee works on a mandate of helping to create well groomed individuals out of stu-
dents. To that end, the College has a state of the art Gymkhana and Gymnasium with modern exercise and sports
facilities. M.L. Dahanukar College ranks among the top 10 Colleges in University of Mumbai in sports.
COMPUTER LAB:
Students of the College have free of cost access to a fully equipped internet enabled computer laboratory. The
laboratory has a computer lab attendant and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The lab is regularly used by
students for research and informational purposes helping them in their internal assignment and studies.
RESEARCH CELL:
The College has a fully functional Research Cell that guides and inspires students to undertake research and also

Our College has an open air hygienic canteen that offers food at nominal rates to students and Staff.
LANGUAGE LAB:
Our College has a computer based Language Laboratory on the third floor of the College building. Having a
capacity of 25 mentees and a mentor console, the Language Lab software caters to the inculcation of learners’
English language, soft skills and professional skills. The Audio-visual study material of the language lab is available
for learners at Basic, Intermediary, Advanced and Professional level. The Language Lab also has basic level study
material of Foreign Languages such as German and French.
COMMERCIAL LAB:
The aim of Commercial Lab is to bridge the gap between academics and Corporate world. In order to achieve this,
the Lab organizes various guest lectures, workshops and educational trips.
INCUBATION CELL
Considering Indian Entrepreneurship Spirit and ideas, passion and enthusiasm of Young Indian Entrepreneur’s to
start businesses on their own, Incubation and Innovation Cell have following objectives
l To identify, nurture and groom the business ideas of College students by providing them necessary mentoring,
infrastructural and investment support.
l To encourage entrepreneurship among students through conducting seminars, workshops and competitions.
So far Cell has successfully incubated Book Share India, a social startup which uses modern technology and

Overall development of a student requires on-site practical experience. The College conducts annual Industrial
Visit to fulfill that objective. Our regular visits to the industries located at several venues including RBI, NSE, BSE,
NSDL, Times of India, Vividh Bharti, MTNL, Traffic Head Quarters, etc.
STUDENT COUNSELLING:
The College has free counseling facility for Bonafide students of all streams by a Professional Counselor. The

As per the directions of the “Vice-Chancellor of University of Mumbai, issued in accordance to the Maharashtra

STUDENT PANEL
l The student panel can be accessed using the website
https://www.mldcc.com/admission
l Select the Stream → It will automatically load the classes for the Stream. **
l Select the Class → It will automatically load list of students for selected Stream and Class.**
l Select Student Name.
l Enter the password (Default password is 123456).
l The password has to be changed when Student logs in for the first time.
l After changing the password, Student must re-login with new password.
l After logging in, Student can start filling up the admission form.
l Fill Admission Form
` Students can save the data filled by clicking the SAVE Button.
` To proceed with the admission procedure, after filling the complete form, click the CONFIRM Button.
l PERSONAL INFORMATION SECTION
m PRN No. is mandatory for students of SY and TY. It should be a 16-digit number.
m Last Name and / or Middle Name must be specified.
m All the other fields in PERSONAL INFORMATION SECTION are mandatory.
m Auto-capitalization has been enabled for text fields.
m Full Name is the name that will be printed on the GRADE CARD issued at the end of the Semester.
m If student does not know his / her blood group, the value “Not Known” should be selected.
