Project Mobile Game UI update

In this project we have to choose a mobile game to see what we can improve from it to make it easier for the UI.

It was an interesting project to work with, because you need to focus in not just the UI itself, you need to look at the game and understand it to be able to make a change. In my case I didn’t play the game but I did my research on how it was played, looking at the trailer, gameplay, etc. I also have some difficulties at first trying to see what exactly should stay the same or what can I actually make a big change.

Looking for many references helps to understand what is not working.

Analysis

Friendly, cute illustrations for storytelling. Green and brown for the menu Nature icons such as a leaf or vines Characters in 3d in the menu Detailed backgrounds for the loading screen and for the

storytelling. Detail icons for abilities but more simple shapes for

scores

60 second commercial

Working on a commercial of our choice and try to figure out how to maintain it in a minute. In this project the idea was work in a team and each one of us was supposed to make their own version of the storyboard.

The commercial is about running shoes for everyone. Interesting challenge to visualize how the camera shots and scenes

was going to work, and not just doing the images itself, you need to specify what are they doing and what kind of camera shot is supposed to be applied for the scene.

Key Color

I chose twilight colors because you can see more dramatic in this way when you have the warm and cold colors together.

Illustration and Animation

Tell a story in a illustration and make an animation out of still image in a method called “parallax” where you can have camera movement within the image and make it look with certain depth.

Visualizing how the camera shot is going to be, how big you need to make the whole illustration to be able to make it in an animation, I wasn’t sure about what was the right choice at the beginning but after making different ideas I’m happy with the final result of the illustration.

Day of the dead

Holyday celebrated during November 1st and 2nd. We celebrate this to honor/commemorate our deceased love ones.

It is believe that the spirits are allowed to reunite with their families for a day and they come to enjoy everything that it was prepared for them. A way to commemorate them is by making an altar in our homes that each item is to represent a different meaning for the deceased; it can be some personal stuff, favorite food, also making a path for the spirit as guide for going back, etc. We also go a visit their graves and we bring flowers to them or even bring a serenate.

story

A young girl who lost her parents in an accident, found out that there was a place where every year the deceased love ones were allowed to be with the living and spend a day with them. Now every year she reunites with her family in that place.

Final Result

Changing a few things from the final sketch to the final illustration to make it feel with more life and also giving the feeling in some drama and be able to tell the story I was trying to achieve.
