Plant the Seeds for Wildernest’s New Outdoor Deck Friday, April 19, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Come up to the Rowland Rooftop Ramble greenhouse to lend a hand planting seeds for a new building expansion opening this spring just outside the Wildernest. Kids who lend a green thumb will receive their own plant to take home!

In the new, outdoor exhibit, children will discover gardening fun in an urban setting, including how to plant and nurture a garden, the wonders of worm composting, the UnderGarden mushroom farm, identifying local urban wildlife, and weather patterns.

This “urban garden” for young children is made possible through support of the Association of Children’s Museums Going Wild initiative on behalf of the Trustees’ Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable, a generous bequest of the estate of Bonnie Berman, and the National Wildlife Federation.

Make the Museum Accessible for AllGive to the Access for Everyone Fund This April Contributions from generous corporations, foundations and individuals make possible the Access for Everyone program. Access for Everyone provides reduced admission to families in need. Last year, this program provided more than 11,000 children the opportunity to experience Madison Children’s Museum.

You can help make Access for Everyone possible by donating $1, $5, or more online, or by purchasing an egg at the museum during the month of April to decorate and add to our nest display, showing your support for this important community service.

Your donation today makes a difference to those in need and provides Access for Everyone.

Director’s Corner Gratitude During Volunteer Month

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re so grateful to the 173 volunteers who work at Madison Children’s Museum, and the 291 volunteers who put on our extraordinary American Girl Benefit Sale. The Rooftop Ramble is a popular spot for all generations to help out. Barb Arntz enjoys sharing the mice with visitors, while the Tone-Schellinger family of Steve, Laurie, and 12-year-old twins Shelby and Sydney particularly like the homing pigeons. Last year our volunteers donated a total of 21,422 hours, the equivalent of more than ten full-time employees. Thank you, thank you!
