You will have several opportunities to choose topics that address the needs of the children that you serve in your child care homes, centers, ministries, preschools and schools. We strive to bring child care providers and teachers together to share ideas and information and to provide you with a professional development experience.

Session 1 9:00—9:45 What We Focus on Grows Presenter: Tierney Boggs, Parent Coaching Institute Room #129 Through this inspiring and energizing workshop, we will look at an appreciate approach to teaching and parenting by learning and focusing on our and our children’s strengths. We will explore the power our words possess in creating our perspective—our sense of what is true, good and possible as well as the idea of how the questions we ask ourselves generally determine what we find. By affirming our kiddo’s strengths, they will effortlessly and freely grow in a positive way. BY5 Caring Community—Helping Teachers/Parents and the Community Understand WHY the Infant and Toddler Time Frame is So Important Presenter: Carrie Bale, BY5 Room #134 A training developed by a BY5 task force that helps caregivers, community members and families understand why the infant and toddler time of development is so important to a child's life long development. Parents and families gain knowledge and skills from those who they trust and come into contact with. This training will help early childhood teachers be able to explain to families why connecting with, observing and responding to infant cues actually builds strong social emotional skills for life. The training also helps examine some widely held "myths " about infant and toddlers and how those myths might influence the way we interact with infants and toddlers. Starting Off on the Right Foot: Classroom Management for the Preschool Teacher Presenter: Elizabeth Strong, Westview Elementary Room #138 We will discuss developmentally appropriate behavior and how to manage those behaviors without calling on the principal or director. We will also talk about how to avoid behavior charts and set up your classroom to promote positive interactions.
