Welcome to the Powerhouse Museum, where you will see an extraordinary array of treasures across decorative arts and design, science, technology, space and transport. We have a variety of exhibitions, programs, events and permanent displays.
Visit maas.museum and explore our collection online or find out more about our other venues, Sydney Observatory in the historic Rocks area and the Museums Discovery Centre at Castle Hill.
MAAS acknowledges Australia’s First Nations Peoples as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land and gives respect to the Elders — past and present — and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A Brilliant Gift: The Barry Willoughby BequestThis selection of glass objects is part of a generous bequest from Museum patron Barry Willoughby.
Experimentations Become the scientist, engineer, thinker, artist and inventor in this dynamic exhibition.
Apollo 11An interactive exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first space flight to land astronauts on the Moon. Includes 200 objects and a virtual-reality experience.

Interface: People, Machines, DesignPresents great consumer products of the 20th and 21st centuries and examines the methods and attitudes of the companies who designed them.
Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson: Step into ParadiseFrom 17 OctoberShowcases the creative process and compelling stories behind the unique and vibrant work of Australian designers Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson.
Don’t Forget to RememberFrom 28 SeptemberSmall display about the creative collaboration between Australian designer Linda Jackson and artist David McDiarmid.
IconsSee little-known treasures from the MAAS collection and rediscover old favourites in an exhibition reinterpreting the conventional notion of an ‘icon’.

Level 1
Space Odyssey TinkertoreumTake part in a series of tinkering challenges to help start new habitats in space. Build a Moon Buggy and race it down the moonscape terrain. From 28 September to 13 October, 10 am – 5 pm.
Space Odyssey Family GuideJourney through the various space features at the Museum, including the Apollo 11 exhibition, Mars Yard, Tinkertoreum and the permanent Space exhibition, completing challenges (or missions) along the way. Enquire at the front desk. Available 28 September to 13 October.

Level 1
Explore the Experimentations exhibition where you can become the scientist, engineer, thinker, artist and inventor.
Level 2
The Lab is a hands-on play space dedicated to interactive technologies. In our workshops, practical learners gain skills, engage their imaginations and share ideas; bookings essential. For more details visit maas.museum/event/the-lab

AccessibilityPlease let us know about your access requirements. Information and assistance is available from staff at the levels 1 and 3 admissions counters.
Wheelchairs, strollers and baby carriers are also available for visitors to use from cloaking on level 3.
Discount parking Discount parking is available at Darling Square Car Park, Haymarket and Novotel Sydney Central, Haymarket. Parking tickets must be validated by the machines located at the levels 1 and 3 admissions counters.
Grab a coffee or have lunch at the MAAS Café on level 3.

PlaygroundThere is a playground outside the MAAS Junction café on level 1.
MAAS StoreLevel 3Exit via the MAAS Store to purchase a wide range of books, gifts and homewares. Profits go towards the purchase or conservation of objects.

PhotographyWe welcome personal and non-commercial photography but please don’t use a flash as light can damage objects.
