The Octo plant by Amelie Skuse

On the day I discovered the plant it was an early misty morning. I was out scavenging for food on my new discovery the Horse Island, when I stumbled across this strange looking plant…Then I saw some eyes hidden in the plants leaves I had a closer look…it was an octopus…so I decided to call it the Octo plant. After further investigation I found out that the Octo plant can make ink. To make the ink come out you have to chop of the end of the stalk and then get a bottle ready underneath the plant and

the ink would come out! I woke up early to get ink from the plant and take my discovery back home with me to show the world when I found I could not even move out of my tent because the area was

filled to the top with the Octo plant then I saw that most of the floor was multicoloured and I bent down to check it out! It was ink all ink so I also found out that the ink was multicoloured not just black and that when you collect the ink it grows so quickly when you are not looking and surrounds you to get you stuck so you cannot go anywhere for revenge on chopping it down…So whilst I was searching for a way out I forgot I had my knife that I chopped the Octo plant with then I could use it again and run and keep on running and every 1minute I would turn round and see if they are taking revenge!!!I ran like the wind when I cut myself free from the plant and when I turned around to check if the plant was taking a chance of revenge the plant had not even moved, I edged closer and closer still and then again nothing happened so I thought to myself victory oh victory!!!!!!! I carried on running for quite some time until…I realised I was lost…I stopped in my tracks and had a look around searching for well I do not know what I was searching for but anyway whilst I was searching I remembered the way I came in so I ran back to my tent. When I got there the Octo plant was gone thank goodness so I went over to my tent and from there I started on my way home. Now when I made it to the parts of the island I knew. After a while I made it back to my boat and

I was amazed for what I saw in front of me, my boat had been surrounded by the…Octo plant!!!!!!! I was so angry with Octo plant which sounds strange saying out loud because it is a plant and who get’s angry with a plant but anyway the plant had tricked me so again I got out my knife and chopped my way through it, finally I cut the Octo plant and as quick as lightning jumped into my boat and rowed away across the sea…Whilst I was rowing home I leant down to get a snack out of my bag when something gooey and sticky slid against my hand. I thrust my hand away quickly and peered down into the depths of narrow boat, you’ll never guess what I found! The Octo plant “seriously” I said to myself angrily as my boat rowed onwards. I quickly turned my boat around and headed back to Horse Island, 5 minutes later I returned back to where my tent last lay and again like when I was lost looked around but nothing was there so I thought!!!When I made it back down to the harbour, my boat had disappeared I looked everywhere but I just couldn’t find it…When I went back where my boat had last been I saw something bubbling in the water and then black ink went everywhere it was the Octo plant it was swimming so that meant it must have swum down with my boat and left it there so I can’t get back…I started panicking, I ran back to where my tent last lay

again and like my boat the Octo plant had destroyed my bag full of all my snacks and drinks to keep me going…I stared in shock annoyance and stupidity, “Why did I have to let myself fall for that” I muttered “Now I’ve lost my boat in the sea and I won’t survive because I have lost ALL my snacks, “UH” I shouted “Why does life have to be so stressful???” I eventually decided to find more food and water, fresh water and try to find a cosy bed and in the morning I will build a boat. When it was morning I went out searching for a strong material like wood in order to make a new boat but then again that didn’t go so well, I found all my wood and a second later when I looked away the Octo plant had stolen it and hid in the bushes with it or something. So one more thing I’ve found out about the Octo plant is that once you have chopped it down once or twice it gets angry and when I say angry I mean fuming with rage and then the Octo plant has a brain and destroys all of your belongings of transport and food and water so this isn’t any ordinary plant so if you come across one of these on Horse Island whatever you do don’t get one of them angry…
