Here’s The Story: Dreaming is Free explores the story of actor/activist Kevin Bott, who created the collaborative, inclusive, and participatory political theater company, Doctor Reverend Ebenezer Abernathy’s Mellifluously Melodious and Medicative (D.R.E.A.M.) Freedom Revival. Modeled after the style of the crusading tent revivals of the 19th and early 20th century, the political performance project includes a musical celebration of democracy, personal freedom, and justice.

Here’s The Story explores this experiment in democracy, and how the performance process of the people, by the people and for the people, can prove to be both a blessing and a curse.

MARCH 2016 FROM PAST TO PRESENT, NATURE EXCITES & EDUCATESNature continues to bring viewers an up close and personal look at the world we live in and the creatures that share, and have shared, the Earth with us.

A few years ago, one of the greatest archeological discoveries occurred in South America – a new species of dinosaur, and possibly the largest land animal ever known, was unearthed in Argentina. In Raising the Dinosaur Giant (March 7 at 8pm), Sir David Attenborough takes viewers through the excavation of more than 200 huge bones, belonging to seven different dinosaurs. At 101.6 million years old and weighing more than 77 tons, this new species of giant plant-eating titanosaur is so new that the official scientific name has yet to be announced. “Like so many people, young and old, I am fascinated by dinosaurs,” explains Attenborough. The documentary also shows how a life-size skeleton of the dinosaur was built with the help of 3D scanning and CGI visuals and animation. Check it out, along with one of the original 8-foot femur fossils, in person at New York City’s American Museum of Natural History.

Can’t get enough of giant extinct beasts? Check out NOVA: Ice Age Death Trap (March 7 at 10pm), where archaeologists uncovered a unique site, packed with preserved bones of mammoths and mastodons, that opened a window on the vanished world of the Ice Age.

Want more science and natural history? See the challenges a young Emperor penguin chick faces from birth to independence in the Antarctic, the world’s most extreme nursery, in Nature: Snow Chick (March 14 at 8pm). And a new SciTech Now episode (March 23 at 5:30pm) examines Pando, a large grove of aspen trees in Utah sharing a single root system, one of the largest and oldest living organisms in the world.

On Easter Monday, 1916, a small group of Irish rebels, including poets, teachers, actors and workers, took on the British Empire. Although defeated, their actions led to the creation of an independent Irish state and contributed to the eventual disintegration of the British Empire. Ireland native Liam Neeson narrates the documentary that commemorates the event’s 100th anniversary.
