What WE DO
Since arriving on the island 7 months ago, YPDR and its 200 volunteers from over 35 countries have built over 900 homes
with partner Polish Humanitarian Action, rebuilt 5 schools, treated 3,357 patients in conjunction with partner organization SAMU,
a medical NGO from Spain, facilitated the donation of $250,000 USD worth of medical supplies from CarePoint Health, conducted hygiene
promotion sessions for 6,000+ children and distributed 10,020 bars of soap, received a $56,000 USD donation from Oxfam for ongoing
projects, and built and deployed 33 artificial reef structures as a part of their new Marine Restoration Program.
With the support of our local consortium partners, Bantayan Municipal Local Government Unit (LGU), University of San Carlos,
Damgo sa Kaugmaon Back to Sea Fisherfolk Association, the International Labor Organization, Junior Chamber
International (JCI) Manila and Cebu chapters ,and with the backing from international groups, YPDR hopes to
continue this effort and create a showcase sustainable coastal management and fisheries rehabilitation program
throughout Bantayan Island.
