Reflections on Transitions From Pastor Mark

It’s the last days of October as I write this. 13 years ago, Elizabeth and I visited Resurrection in the last days of October on a pre-call interview. We had time where I met with the call committee, staff, other leaders and an open forum on a Friday night. Two nights later the congregation had a call service and extended God’s call for me to come and serve as Pastor for His people at RLC. After 6 weeks with lots of prayers and conversations, we decided to accept His Call and move to North Carolina. It is hard to imagine that was 13 years ago.

Many of you remember those days, an associate pastor had accepted God’s call to serve a congregation in Florida early in 2004 and Pastor Paul’s unexpected death at the end of December that year left the congregation vacant of a full- time pastor. Yet God provided the pastoral presence needed and so many lay people stepped forward during that time. So here we are again. Pastor Dave transitioned to serve as a full-time chaplain in the Navy and for 15 months we have sought to call an associate. Now with God’s call coming for me to serve at St. James and our departure at the end of November, Resurrection will find ourselves in a similar position. We know, during this vacancy time, God will provide pastoral presence and again many lay leaders and servants will step forward to carry on ministry.

There are three words running through my thoughts looking back and moving forward – Grateful – Trust – Confident. Grateful - Elizabeth and I are truly grateful for God’s Call that sent us to live here and serve at Resurrection. This has been a wonderful place to be planted and watch our family bloom. We’ve been blessed in so many ways to have served among God’s people here. I am also grateful for the welcome I received to serve as pastor following in the steps of Pastor Paul Kibler. During those first years, I heard so many Pastor Paul stories and I embraced them. Recollections I heard were never “Well, this is how Pastor Paul did it” or “Pastor Paul didn’t do that.” The stories just recalled what he had meant for people in being their pastor and what his service meant for so many. I will always be grateful for that.

I am also grateful for how I could expand my ministry service here by creating a partnership with the Lutheran Church of Uganda, opening our doors to the Mekane Jesus Ethiopian Lutheran congregation, and most recently your support and encouragement to pursue the Doctor of Ministry program. I am also grateful for the support and care shown to my children and Elizabeth who was invited to serve in a calling for Student Ministry, which has been such a tremendous fit with her gifts and abilities. I love being a pastor and am so grateful to have served you for the past 13 years.

Trust - 13 years ago, we trusted God was leading us to move from Wisconsin to serve in North Carolina, now we are trusting the same Lord is leading us to transition to serve at St. James in Shawano. As I have shared before, it is not just a Wisconsin ‘thing’ that led us to accept the Call to serve at St. James. There has been no compelling reason to leave here. Resurrection is a strong, healthy, vibrant ministry and being a part of it has been a wonderful blessing. We’ve been supported and cared for in so many ways. While Wisconsin is the only place we would have considered a call to, Wisconsin is not the reason we accepted.

Here are the two primary factors in reaching the decision to accept God’s call to St. James:

As I have observed, and others have shared the past situations St. James have faced and how they are now ready to look toward the present and future, seeking to reach out more into the community fits my skill set in ministry. Elizabeth was one who indicated that was her observation, as well as a few colleagues in ministry who are long time friends and familiar with St. James shared that same sentiment. What I can bring matches and fits the needs of St. James.

Resurrection is what I describe as a regional congregation. In this area of North Carolina while large and growing, there are not as many Lutheran congregations, thus we draw people from across 5 different communities. This is not bad, just the way it is. However, St. James is a primary congregation in the Shawano community. Helping to lead and serve a healthy, vibrant St. James congregation can make a profound difference in that one community. I look forward to that challenge of serving in a congregation poised again to make a tremendous impact on that community.

Trusting God has used those two factors as we move forward to a new place of service.

Confident – As I stated, Resurrection has been in a similar position 14 years ago and God provided. This is a healthy, vibrant congregation filled with capable and gifted servants. I am confident the Lord will provide what is needed and people will step forward to assume the mantle of service and leadership. I am confident God will send a Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor to serve alongside you all By Grace, Through Faith, For Service. I am confident you will receive those pastors as you received me with love and support. I am confident you will share stories of what I meant to you and served with you, and not fall into the trap of comparisons. I am confident God’s plan for the Next 40 will unfold and you will be positioned to carry His ministry and mission forward. I am confident that in all things God will be praised and His will be done.

In the joyful service of Jesus, Pastor Mark and Elizabeth

To my students and parents of Resurrection’s Student Ministries and the multitude of those who have supported the ministry over the years,

I look back on my time of service here at RLC with profound gratitude. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been led on a journey of spiritual growth as I stretched myself and grew in my gifts. I am grateful for adult leaders who walked along side me, supporting the ministry as they offered their friendship and time. I am grateful to have been part of a church family that values a vibrant student ministry and shows it through prayer, encouragement, financial support, and patient understanding when exuberant youth disrupt their Sunday night meetings. I am grateful to parents who entrusted their children to my care week after week and trip after trip. I am grateful to those parents who shared their gratitude for my efforts. I am grateful to all the youth who came through the doors of the Warehouse over the years. I hope you all know how much I care about you as a person and a Child of God. More than that, I hope you received the message that you are God’s Workmanship. If you didn’t hear it - you are precious, you are enough. You were created for a purpose - His purpose. He painstakingly designed you with gifts that He wants you to use in service to Him and to His people. He died for you, so live in such a way that your gratitude shows. Give yourself away as you love and serve those God puts in your path.

I am grateful to God for taking me on this journey. I placed myself and the ministry in His hands and He’s been faithful. He helped me overcome my doubts and showed me the way to go. He placed youth in my path to love and to lead. He placed amazing people at my side to join the journey in pointing youth to Jesus.

Moving on from this place will be extremely difficult, but I am very excited for the future of student ministry, because of God’s faithfulness. He has identified someone to take up the mantle. Old testament prophets were known for wearing mantles (a loose-fitting garment) as a sign of their calling from God. The prophet Elijah threw his cloak around Elisha as a symbol of Elijah’s ministry being passed on to Elisha. A mentor passing an office to the student. A symbol of the paradox of prophetic office - equal parts earthly poverty and heavenly power. Don’t mistake that to mean that I’m calling myself a prophet - I am simply connecting the passing of an office from one who answered God’s call, to another who will continue the work. One humble servant to another.

God’s faithfulness in raising up another leader is reason for great rejoicing. The youth know her already. I am excited to introduce her to the rest of you. The Interim High School Youth Ministry Leader will be Jenny Piontek. The first thing you should know about her is that she loves God and is continually seeking ways to grow in her faith. The second thing you should know is that she loves teens and is ‘excited to have this opportunity to work with our awesome youth!’ Her family moved to Apex from Michigan 8 years ago. She and her husband, Jason, usually attend the 10:45 service with their three children, Emily, Ben and Josh. Since joining RLC, Jenny has been actively serving in Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, K.I.C.K.S., Ignite, and Breakaway. She has served as an adult leader on youth trips to Agape, Kure Beach, and Youth Works. Jenny has a teaching degree. She taught at Resurrection’s preschool for 4 years and often subs throughout Wake County. Some of her favorite things are football, music, singing, teaching, being outdoors, reading, and playing games. Her favorite bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:7, ‘For we walk by faith, not by sight.’

She is looking forward to witnessing faith growth in the youth. She owes her enthusiasm for youth ministry in part to the strong youth program she participated in as a teen. She seeks to serve God’s people wherever she is planted. For what it’s worth, she has Mrs. D’s seal of approval. Just knowing how much she loves and values the youth, makes me so happy. Her enthusiasm for the ministry is contagious. Her commitment to loving and serving God’s children as she continues to grow in her own faith is a recipe for a healthy youth ministry. Trust me, she’s got this. She will follow as God leads and He is faithful.

I’ll close this note with one of my favorite benedictions. God’s Good Word from me to you is from 2 Thessalonians 3:16 and 18:

16Now may the Lord of Peace Himself give you Peace always, in every way. The Lord be with you all. 18The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

Until we meet again… Shine ON! Elizabeth Drengler

Vacancy Pastor

As a key part of our transition, Pastor Jon Richter has agreed to serve as our Vacancy Pastor, beginning December 1, 2018. Prior to this time, watch for Pastor Jon around church as he looks to meet as many members as possible, attend some key events, and spend time with Pastor Mark. Feel free to introduce yourself and make him feel welcome.

Pastor Jon was raised in Texas and graduated with a BA in Economics and Political Science from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He came to North Carolina in 1972, where he met his wife Ellen at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC, marrying in 1981. They have two children - a son, Josh and daughter, Mary Anna. Josh graduated from UNC-Charlotte and then earned his MD from UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He is now completing a Residency in Psychiatry in Greenville, SC. Mary Anna went to Campbell University and met her husband there. They have 3 boys - 8, 5, and 20 months.

Ellen retired this year from the school system in Columbia, SC, where she served as a speech therapist. They have moved to Garner to live closer to Mary Anna and her family. They enjoy time with their children and grandchildren. Ellen has found part-time work providing speech therapy services to children in pre-school programs. Pastor Richter is an Eagle Scout and enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing. He has already taken his 2 oldest grandsons on an overnight camping trip with their Cub Scout Pack. He and his son, Josh, have recently obtained ham radio licenses and are enjoying radio sport.

Early in his career, Pastor Jon worked and retired from managing logistics for 30 years at Belk, Inc. Following this, Pastor Sizemore at Mount Olive in Irmo, SC encouraged him to consider deeper service to the church in the SMP Program. Our Southeastern District President matched him with a vacant church - Greenwood Lutheran (GLC) in Greenwood, SC. He began serving under a "Temporary Ministry License" as their sole vicar and continued to serve GLC as he progressed through the SMP program and was ordained in January 2016. He has completed the SMP program through Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and is now listed on the roster as "Emeritus" status from Greenwood Lutheran. Pastor Jon and Ellen are currently members of Holy Cross Lutheran in Clayton, NC.

Pastor Richter will be leading regular Saturday and Sunday worship and occasional services, including preaching. He will be at Wednesday services during Advent and Lent, including providing the homily as required in partnership with the liturgists. He will conduct funerals, including extensive preparation time with the families prior to visitation, preparation of the homily part on the visitation, and graveside/internment services. Pastor Jon will conduct wedding and limited pre-marital counseling (in conjunction with other pastors). He will work and coordinate with our Stephen Ministers in visiting shut-ins and those hospitalized. He will attend staff meetings as part of maintaining the normal schedule of events, noting any special times when pastoral assistance is needed. He will support, as required, our New Member activities, and work with some or all of the 8th grade students on their faith statements as preparation for Confirmation, as well as a participant in 8th grade Confirmation. Lastly, he will meet new permanent pastoral candidates.

If there are any questions, please direct them to Teresa Gresham ([email protected], 919-467-6878) or Bob Shimmel ([email protected], 608-417-9323).

Chicken Soup for the Soul

It was mid-afternoon and we were nearing the end of our visit in Kakiika. The team was enjoying a meal that a few of us had clumsily tried to help Violet and Mariah prepare in the cooking hut. (I could devote an entire diary entry to the art of cutting vegetables into tiny pieces while holding them in one’s hand!) We were sitting on tree stumps and felled logs to the side of the hut, a little out of sight, the courageous among us eating Ugandan style with our fingers. The children had eaten their porridge earlier in the day and we muzungu felt conspicuous with our dinner. The scent from our cooking fires had been wafting across the school grounds all afternoon and it was clear to everyone that we had meat.

Alas, the children found us. As they often did, they just hung about watching us eat. In Uganda, the finest morsels of food are given to a visitor. In many households if there happens to be meat at a meal, a serving is often set aside just in case a

visitor arrives at the door. And in Ugandan culture, it’s completely natural that the adults would enjoy the meat and the children would have none, their bellies filled instead with starchy foods like rice or beans. This pecking order is somewhat contrary to American culture. We’re a society of helicopter parents and tiger moms so we knew these kids were hungry. The larger the crowd of onlookers grew, the more uncomfortable we became. But there were probably 200 children in Kakiika that day and we had but one pot of chicken soup, a small portion of matoke, and maybe a little rice and turnip greens.

Sadly, this is not a fishes and loaves story. I’d love to tell you that we lined them up and the pot never emptied until the very last child had eaten his fill. But that’s not what happened. Of course we shared. We tried to pull aside the smallest children, or the ones who looked like they most needed the protein. But we quickly realized it was a fool’s errand. Like a viral game of telephone, word spread we were giving away our food and suddenly the crowd doubled with expectant faces and we had

nothing left to offer. The food was gone and there were still dozens of them standing in front of us, and dozens more running toward the little mob scene we’d unwittingly created. What had we done?

A few minutes later Violet cheerfully shooed the kids away as we cleared up our mess and began organizing our departure. If there was disappointment among them it was soon forgotten in the excitement of activity. Like all happy and inquisitive children, they became interested in the next thing—peering at the American-ness of our supplies on the bus, enjoying last minute hugs and piggy back rides, belting out another sing-along, and maybe a few more jump shots on the net ball court.

Oh yes these are happy children. They find such joy in our visits that they can easily forget their hunger and live completely in the moment, grateful for the gift of our friendship and giving God the glory that He’s brought all of us together. Ours is truly a mission of presence. We cannot feed all those children every day, and nor should we try. Bringing them food and taking care of them is what our nurturing heart wants, but it doesn’t best serve our friends in Uganda. Our presence and long-term partnership is what’s needed. Walking alongside of them in faith and ministry, lifting them in prayer and investing in sincere friendship, and yes, adding support to their initiatives when we can provide financial or tactical resources. That’s how we best serve this ministry.

And in so doing we also receive. In our daily living, we often feel weighed down with personal burdens. I think about our friends in Uganda and it reminds me to look around at the joy God delivers me every day. The constant gift I carry from this ministry is the reminder to slow down, appreciate everyone, look outward rather than inward, (that’s a big one!), re-align priorities, and be grateful. It’s the most precious souvenir I have from Uganda and I’m so thankful to those children for giving it to me.

ALL SAINTS FESTIVAL and THE COMMEMORATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED – November 3/4, we will celebrate the Festival of All Saints. In our worship, we will remember with thanksgiving all those who have received the blessing of Everlasting Life through faith in Jesus Christ. On Sunday, November 4, special music by the Sanctuary Choir, Harmonia Deum, and the Resurrection Brass Ensemble, with festival settings of the hymns will help us in our celebration. Plan on attending and bring a friend with you. CHRISTMAS MUSIC FESTVIAL – Sunday, December 9 at the 8:00 and 10:30 am Worship Services in the Sanctuary, approximately 70 musicians will lead our celebration of the Christmas Season. Gloria by Vivaldi will be presented by The Festival Chorus, including members of Sanctuary Choir and Harmonia Deum accompanied by chamber orchestra.

“Gloria in Excelsis Deo…” has been used in the historical church, from its earliest days, as the Hymn of Praise – an Ordinary in the liturgy of the Divine Service (or Eucharist, or Mass). Following historical practice, Antonio Vivaldi has taken the text to this canticle and set it for choir, soloists, and orchestra. His Gloria separates this canticle into individual choral works each based on phrases from the original text – the meanings of which are reflected in the music: text-painting. This canticle is called “The Angels’ Song” because it begins with the text sung by the Heavenly Host when they announced the Birth of Jesus Christ to the shepherds outside the city of Bethlehem (Luke 2:14). It was translated as, “Glory to God in the Highest” by the Lutheran Church in The Lutheran Hymnal (1941).

The Heavenly Handbells will also present arrangements of familiar Christmas Carols. Please plan on attending and join in singing with the angel choir our praises to Immanuel – God With Us.

All youth and adults are encouraged to participate in this exciting preparation for Christmas. Rehearsals for Gloria by Vivaldi are scheduled for Sundays, November 4 and 11, and December 2, at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary; and Wednesdays, November 7, 14, 28, and December 5, 8:00 pm in the Choir/Music Room. If you are interested in participating, please contact Bob Unger at the church office and/or be present at one the initial rehearsals.

SANCTUARY CHOIR rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30-9:00 pm, in the Choir Room off the Fellowship Hall. This choir is for high school youth through adults, and covers a wide range of Christian choral literature.

HEAVENLY HANDBELLS is for high school youth through adults, and plays the full spectrum of handbell literature. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, usually in the Sanctuary with Bob Unger, Director.

HARMONIA DEUM is the choir for youth in Grades 6-12. Harmonia Deum meets Sunday evenings with Bob Unger in the Sanctuary, 5:00-5:45 pm.

If you are interested in participating in any of these inspiring choirs, please contact Bob Unger, the director, at the church office.

Voter’s Meeting - November 18

Join us for a Voter’s Meeting on November 18 at noon after the 10:45 service in the Family Life Center.

Agenda items include the following:

• Pastor Mark’s Peaceful Release of His Call

• Voting on Council Members

• Updates on Church Activities

Childcare will be provided.

New Endowment Fund Established

During 2018, the Church Council asked the Endowment Committee to look at two items. First was to review the performance of our Funds versus our stated objectives. They looked at our Fund returns for the last several years and agreed they were meeting our expectations.

The second objective was to work with the Lutheran Legacy Fund to be able to use the designated portion of the Next 40 campaign to optimize the use of the Lutheran Legacy Foundation – Pastor Paul Kibler Endowment Fund (School Fund) in supporting our schools. The objective of the Next 40 contribution was to expand the fund usage beyond the originally intended use for school scholarships. These additions included:

1. Support Teacher/Staff development for Resurrection Lutheran Schools. 2. Improve facilities, equipment, and technology used in Resurrection Lutheran Schools.

Unfortunately, we were not able to amend our current Pastor Paul Kibler Endowment Fund (School Fund). In order to be able to provide future funding, a new Endowment had to be created. To this end, the Endowment Committee has created the Paul Kibler Education Endowment Fund. As noted as part of the Next 40 campaign, Lutheran Legacy Fund will match 20% of the first $500,000 donated. Proceeds from this new fund can also be used for school scholarships.

Members can contribute to either fund, designating the desired fund on their check or envelope.

We would especially like to thank the members of the Endowment Committee - Bob Williams, Terry Brummeyer, and Anne Alteri - for all their hard work and diligence.

Any questions can be directed to the Endowment Committee.

OUR MIGHTY MITES AT WORK

At the District LWML Convention held in September, the delegation selected 10 Mission Grants. These will be presented to the appropriate parties as the funds come in. This is where YOU can make a difference. On the first weekend of each month, Resurrection gathers any monies for mites in the large purple mite box. Please drop in any collected mites or even the change in your pockets!

The first Mission Grant to be highlighted is PROFESSIONAL CHURCH WORK STUDENT ASSISTANCE.

Many of our District's men and women have responded with a commitment to learn how to do the Lord's work as professional church workers. The cost of this education is great and could be a stumbling block to some. The Carolinas District LWML will provide a grant of $5,000 ($2,500 in each year of the biennium) to the Southeastern District LCMS to assist with providing tuition for professional church work students from North and South Carolina.

Student Ministry Breakaway News: October was a wonderful month! We had great conversations about fear, the amazing life-changing programs that youth have the ability to accomplish, prayer and what Scripture has to say about all of it as we gathered together at Connection Café each Sunday morning. We participated in Youth Sunday on the 7th. It’s always so good to see students actively leading and participating in worship. Our youth band, Exodus, did an excellent job leading us in musical worship and youth also did the readings, led the children’s message, ushered, and participated in many ways behind the scenes. Well done, all. We also travelled to Crossroads Fellowship for the Unaltered Tour. We enjoyed awesome worship music, games, laughs, and the stories of the young people who shared a message of hope for young people as they navigate their way through a fallen world. Everyone that God made has a purpose. When we allow God to guide our steps, we live the life we were created for. Sin altered God’s design, but because of His grace, we can still live life to fullest. That is definitely something to celebrate! October also found us in a Zombie Escape Room on the 27th. We finished the month by creating a Shrek Display for the Children’s Ministries Holy-ween event and then headed to Moe’s after.

Our BBQ Dinner Auction Fundraiser was a huge success. Thank you to those who organized it, to Kim for the amazing food, to our generous donors, and all of you who supported Children and Youth Ministry by showing up and purchasing tickets, bidding, and making additional gifts to those ministries. Thank you so much.

Attention All Current 6th-9th grade Youth! It is time to register for…

The YouthWorks 2019 Mission Trip to… Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina!

WHEN: JUNE 16-21, 2019

WHY: To serve God’s people in a new location through the ministry of presence and acts of service. Build and grow relationships with youth from Resurrection and youth from other locations. Take a step of faith and let God use your gifts to meet the needs of those who need your care. You will grow emotionally and spiritually as you step out of your comfort zone, living the life you were created for - Worship, Service, and Spreading the Love of God.

MORE: We will experience the beauty of both people and nature in the scenic small town of Taylorsville, NC. By participating in work projects, running a Kids Club, helping at a local nutrition program, and supporting other ministries, we will make connections with the people of the area while addressing some significant needs. In the evenings, we will visit a cowboy church, experience the thrill of a homemade water park, hike to the top of Lowe’s Lookout, and partake in a community cookout. YouthWorks has partnered with this community since 2006.

COST: Though the per person cost is $354, fundraising and church support makes it possible for Student Ministries to offer this trip to you at the reduced rate of $180. A $90 deposit will secure your spot on our limited roster.

REGISTRATION: Simply fill out the last page of the YouthWorks brochure in your church mailbox. Turn it in with $90 to Elizabeth Drengler’s or Jennifer Piontek’s church mailbox by December 15th. Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Your deposit secures your spot and is non-refundable.

*You can earn money toward this trip and others by participating in the SCRIP gift card program. Ask Mrs. D for info.

* If you are interested in serving as an Adult Leader for this trip, please let Mrs. D know. It’s a fun week with some amazing young people. It is amazing to be a part of their faith-journey in this way.

Resurrection Lutheran School continues to look for ways to meet the needs of the dynamic community that we serve in the Cary area market. To that end, RLS will add a Junior Kindergarten in the Fall of 2019 to complement the preschool programming that is currently in place. The addition of Junior Kindergarten will enhance our shared ministries within both the church and schools by giving families an all day Christian option, as well as half day programming.

Junior Kindergarten will also give students who are kindergarten age but not kindergarten ready to go to school all day in preparation for the rigor children now face in traditional kindergarten. Students in Junior Kindergarten will benefit from Before and After School Care services.

Students must be 4 year old by August 31 to enroll in Junior Kindergarten. Students must be 5 years old by August 31 to enroll in RLS Kindergarten. No exceptions. The school day will mirror current RLS school hours (8:30 am-3:00 pm) as will tuition/fees.

Let’s Face It 2018 Jonte's mother's cancer diagnosis was devastating news, and things went from bad to worse when a conflict with the landlord left them with nowhere to go. With all of this going on Jonte' understandably missed school and fell behind while her mother was in the hospital. Families Together supporters like you got Jonte' through this really tough time in her life as they stayed rent free in our Short-Term Family Housing throughout her mother's treatment. Today her mom is cancer free and they hold the lease to their own two-bedroom apartment.

Supporters of Families Together were imperative to Jonte’s family finding their way back home, but there are still children who do not know where they will sleep tonight. That is why your involvement in the 2018 Let’s Face It Matching Campaign is critical to the future of children experiencing homelessness in Wake County.

A local foundation has generously offered to match the first $16,250 in new and increased donations received between now and December 31st. YOUR $50 DONATION BECOMES $100; YOUR $100 DONATION BECOMES $200 AND SO ON. WHAT A DIFFERENCE YOU CAN MAKE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD!

Leave A Legacy You may have heard about planned giving, but are not familiar with the benefits. A planned gift is really quite easy - it involves some planning that helps both you and our mission. We’re excited to announce that Families Together has launched a new Planned Giving website.

Do you own an IRA or other qualified retirement plan? Are you looking for a tax-wise strategy to make gifts to support our mission? Our new website is a great information resource with planning tools, videos, and stories to help you create a legacy of hope and opportunity.

What are the benefits of making a bequest? Get practical information for you and your family. Planning tools and helpful information can be found at FTLegacy.org.

Thanksgiving Dinners At Families Together, we understand the importance of familial ties and how they affect individuals. We spend every day working with families experiencing homelessness to stabilize them and get back to independence. When a family is in crisis, the opportunity to observe holidays diminishes, and your support is needed to help alleviate some of the pressure by providing Thanksgiving meals for families in the community. Please reach out to Meghan at [email protected] if you can help provide families with Thanksgiving dinners.

Holiday Smiles 2018 The families we serve are working hard to leave homelessness behind and return to independence and stable housing. Knowing they don’t have to worry about Christmas gifts frees them up to stay on track with their budget goals AND have a special holiday during this tough time. Holiday Smiles sponsorships are available to help one or more of the families in our program with presents for the Christmas holiday (wish lists are provided to make shopping easy). Thank you to the churches and individuals who’ve already offered their support. Please contact Meghan at [email protected] if you’d like to be a part of this special annual tradition.
