What is Heartbreak United About?
• Our soap is based around the lives of players and people within a championship football team who have recently relocated to get away from bad press.
• Locals aren't completely ecstatic about arrival of team and make this known.
• Club goes through big transitions seeing new players and new staff brought in (Such as Star Striker Johnny and Manager Tony).
• Key topics of soap are: Gambling, adultery, drugs, cheating and criminal activity.
Target Audience (Channel 5)
• Aimed slightly more aimed at female audience.
• Younger Audience (16-34)• B, C1, C2 audience.
Targeting our audiences
• We will be targeting our audience to let them know about our new soap in two ways:
• Poster: unlike most channel 5 shows we will use poster to advertise our show. As it hasn’t been done on this channel before it could have a surprise factor also suggesting a large budget being used on the soap. The use of a powerful poster could draw people in to watch our soap. Ideally putting it in London tube stations and on bus shelters we will hopefully reach our male target audience.
• Magazine cover: By advertising it on the front of a listings guide we will reach a large number of people who are looking for something to watch. Having a powerful image on the front of the magazine should entice readers of listings guide to watch our soap.
The trailer
• Our trailer will be fast paced with the structure of a post match interview, we will use irony and feature key scandals present in our soap to create an exciting trailer without giving too much of the plot away.
• Making key characters instantly recognisable is key for this as we have created these characters specifically to attract our audience.
