Difference Between Commentary and Word of God

What I, or any man, says about a passage is commentary.

What the Passage says is God’s Word.

Difference between restating what the passage says and commenting on the passage.

Example:

He who believes and is baptized will be saved… (Mark 16:16).

Restate: Belief plus Baptism = Salvation

Comment: Baptism is not essential to salvation because this passage is not contained in all the manuscripts.

Comment: Jesus was speaking to Jews under the Old Law and this doesn’t apply today.
