Parish Offerings for February 9, 2020

$14,298—Regular Collection

Thank you for your generous support. Please encourage all members in your family who are

working to support our parish family.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The good news is that we get another crack at renewing our new year resolutions again – yes Lent is coming. The question is, are we going to recycle our old resolutions or are we going to make a conscious and decisive decision to make this Lent a time of spiritual growth? Our parish is providing many wonderful opportunities to help you grow spiritually this Lent. Below find some opportunities:

• A Journey Through Lent: People of the Passion. Come meet the people of the Passion each Thursday of Lent – February 27 – April 2 @ 7pm St Mary Church, Bordentown.

• Confession/Reconciliation – Come and experience the love God has for you – tell God what’s hurting you and experience God’s compassion. Friday, March 20th 7pm – 10pm, Saturday, March 21st 1:45pm – 4:45pm and every Saturday @ 3pm Holy Assumption and 4pm St Mary Church.

• Stations of the Cross – Fridays @ 3pm St. Mary Church and 7pm Holy Assumption

• Soup and Scripture talks on Gospel of John – March 4 – April 1 @ 12 noon. See bulletin for more details.

• Weekday Masses – Holy Assumption: Tues – Friday @ 8:30am. St. Mary Church, Chapel of Saints: Monday – Wednesday – Friday @ 7:30am. St Mary Church: Tuesday – Thursday @ 12:30pm

• Holy Hour for Lent: Holy Assumption Church @ 7pm

• 24 Hours With The Lord: March 20th 4:45pm – March 21st 4:45. This 24 Hours With The Lord, has been requested by Pope Francis that dioceses and parishes across the world would spend 24 hours with the Lord. We will have 24 hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Mary Church, Bordentown. Sign up sheets will be available later.

Soup and Scripture Many of you may remember from last year our Soup and Scripture Program and how successful it was. We, MMOTCP & St. Katherine Drexel Parish, are running it again this year based on the theme of the Gospel of St. John. MMOTCP will be hosting three Wednesday’s: March 4th St. Mary School Gym @ 12noon, March 18th Holy Assumption @ 12 noon and April 1st St Mary School Gym @ 12 noon. I need 10 people who will be willing to make soup for us on those days. Please contact the parish office with your name and number and what date or dates you can make the soup. I really appreciate your help and support. Online Giving If you were unable to attend any of our information evenings regarding Online Giving or if you still have some questions, please contact the office. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved in the set-up of Online Giving, the staff in the office, George Bifano and a big thank you to Gene Bishop.

Kelly Briggs: Home: Songs of Hope and Inspiration A little reminder of our concert on Sunday, April 19th @ 5pm St Mary Church, Bordentown. Tickets are selling fast – don’t forget to get yours. Friends, begin your preparation for Lent now. Year after year we miss opportunities of getting closer to God – let this year be different. In our first reading this weekend Sirach lays it very clear: “If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you; if you trust in God, you too shall live; God has set before you fire and water; to whichever you choose, stretch forth your hand. Before you are life and death, good and evil, whichever you choose shall be given you.” Sirach 15:15-16

The following excerpt is from the pub-lication “Deep Down Things” -

Every Christian at every moment is called to holiness. Make no mistake about it. You are

proclaiming a message at every moment of the day, even when you are not speaking. Your message must be au-

thentic. It will be so, if you are authentic. Your authentici-ty as a Christian comes from your personal relationship

with Jesus Christ. Often ask your self: “Could Jesus Christ share what I am going to say or what I am going to

do?” If you can reply yes, then you are authentic.

If you or anyone you know in our local communities of Bordentown, Roebling or Florence needs assistance,

call our confidential helpline at 609-298-1414.
