During the Easter season we read several gospel accounts of people meeting the resurrected Jesus and running to go and tell others about the experience Recently we heard about two disciples on the road to Emmaus who were fortunate that Jesus ldquodrew nearrdquo and walked with them They didnrsquot recognize him as he shared the scriptures but at dinner they had an extraordinary encounter when Jesus broke the bread The disciplesrsquo hearts were on fire and they ran back to Jerusalem to tell the others
My favorite scripture passage of an encounter with Jesus and being motivated to share the story is the Woman at the Well She was so eager to tell the story she left her water jug behind and went to the townspeople people that were unfriendly to her and said ldquoCome see a man who told me everything I have done Could he possibly be the Messiahrdquo Now herersquos the important part ndash the part that shows us the power of a story ndash because the woman shared her experience story ldquoMany of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him because of the word of the womanrdquo (Jn 439)
We must remember that Jesus often draws near to us and does extraordinary things in our own lives done things that have become the foundation of your personal faith ndash the memory you cling to when times are difficult the memory that helps you through because it reminds you how real God is and how much God loves you today as he did when he came near in the experience of your memory
We are in difficult times and many of us are thinking about how
much we need God now and how we trust God will help us now ndash because we know how God has helped us in the past We have the experience We have a story
In this time of isolation we find o u r s e l v e s h u n g r y f o r conversa t ion hung r y for relationships and hungry for e n c o u r a g e m e n t A s a community we can converse strengthen relationships and encourage each other by sharing our God experience story I invite you as the pandemic gives us the time and the attitude of introspection to spend a few minutes and write a brief story of how God touched your life Donrsquot worry about wordsmithing or that your story might seem trivial Just remember the power of a story ndash even your story ndash especially your story
Our faith stories can be the most powerful things we can give to one another Your story could be the life-changing faith witness that someone needs
right now God has given you a gift by his presence and action in your life Share the gift because your story has power

During the Easter season we read several gospel accounts of people meeting the resurrected Jesus and running to go and tell others about the experience Recently we heard about two disciples on the road to Emmaus who were fortunate that Jesus ldquodrew nearrdquo and walked with them They didnrsquot recognize him as he shared the scriptures but at dinner they had an extraordinary encounter when Jesus broke the bread The disciplesrsquo hearts were on fire and they ran back to Jerusalem to tell the others
My favorite scripture passage of an encounter with Jesus and being motivated to share the story is the Woman at the Well She was so eager to tell the story she left her water jug behind and went to the townspeople people that were unfriendly to her and said ldquoCome see a man who told me everything I have done Could he possibly be the Messiahrdquo Now herersquos the important part ndash the part that shows us the power of a story ndash because the woman shared her experience story ldquoMany of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him because of the word of the womanrdquo (Jn 439)
We must remember that Jesus often draws near to us and does extraordinary things in our own lives done things that have become the foundation of your personal faith ndash the memory you cling to when times are difficult the memory that helps you through because it reminds you how real God is and how much God loves you today as he did when he came near in the experience of your memory
We are in difficult times and many of us are thinking about how
much we need God now and how we trust God will help us now ndash because we know how God has helped us in the past We have the experience We have a story
In this time of isolation we find o u r s e l v e s h u n g r y f o r conversa t ion hung r y for relationships and hungry for e n c o u r a g e m e n t A s a community we can converse strengthen relationships and encourage each other by sharing our God experience story I invite you as the pandemic gives us the time and the attitude of introspection to spend a few minutes and write a brief story of how God touched your life Donrsquot worry about wordsmithing or that your story might seem trivial Just remember the power of a story ndash even your story ndash especially your story
Our faith stories can be the most powerful things we can give to one another Your story could be the life-changing faith witness that someone needs
right now God has given you a gift by his presence and action in your life Share the gift because your story has power
