FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK….

Brothers and sisters: the cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, tough many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. (today’s Second Reading) As I am writing this I am hurt, confused, frustrated, sad and a bit angry. I would imagine that many of you share these same feelings about all the protests, demonstrations, looting, and violence we have been experiencing lately. St. Paul hit the nail squarely on the head in today’s Second Reading as he reminds us that we are one body. Through our participation in the Eucharist we are united to one another, and as part of that one body we are all affected when part of the body is hurting. We have been forcefully reminded of the human frailty that all of us share. We are also reminded that each of us needs to reflect on the reality of racism within our lives and the ways we treat others. In a recent statement from the Bishops of Wisconsin they stated: “We encourage everyone to examine any attitudes of racism within themselves or others that contribute to a culture of disrespect of the dignity and rights of every human person. As noted in the USCCB (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops) statement ‘People of good conscience must never turn a blind eye when citizens are being deprived of their human dignity and even their lives. Indifference is not an option. As bishops, we unequivocally state that racism is a life issue.’” We must remember to pray for each other and especially those injured by deliberate or unintended racism during this time. We are strengthened in the body and blood of Christ to be the Church, the Body of Christ, at this time and in this place. God’s blessings to you all – Fr. Mark P.S. In the midst of all the issues around pandemics and social justice I am happy to announce that Mary Rozmarynowski’s election as Trustee of St. Peter’s Parish has been approved by Archbishop Listecki. Congratulations to Mary and many, many thanks to Pat Prahl for his many dedicated years as a trustee for our parish. Please keep both of them in your prayers.

MASSES HAVE RESUMED WITH SOME CHANGES

We are able to offer on a limited basis public Masses here at St. Peter’s. We will be limited to a maximum of 50 people at each Mass (that includes the priest, the reader, the musicians, the ushers and the congregation). Fr. John and I have received the necessary permissions for each of us to offer Mass publicly again. And we have been purchasing some of the various materials we will be needing to clean the church after each Mass. We do need your help as well. We will use only the main entrance to the church so that we can count the people coming in and in the interest of everyone’s health, we will need to turn people away once we have reached our limited capacity. We will be practicing social distancing as well. We are asking you to bring and wear your own mask while at Mass (we are still waiting to get the very limited number of masks we have ordered). The same is true for gloves if you would feel more comfortable wearing gloves. The first five to ten people in the congregation at each Mass will be expected to stay to help with cleaning the church after Mass. I remind all of you that the Archbishop has dispensed all of you from the obligation to attend Mass until at least July 5th. Please consider your own health and the health of your family as you make the decision to come to Mass. At least for the beginning we will be using our regular Sunday Mass schedule. Please check the parish website and online bulletin for any updates. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

SAFEGUARD TRAINING AVAILABLE ON- LINE THINK AHEAD TO NEXT SCHOOL YEAR!

All parents, grandparents, volunteers and employees of St. Peter’s parish MUST be safeguarded trained, an initiative by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to keep our children safe. If you plan in anyway to be involved in or around children in the school, CCD program and any activities involving children this class MUST be taken before you attend. For the month of June and July because of the COVID virus, the Archdiocese is holding on-line training. You must pre-register for the class just as you would if you would have to attend in person. They will be taking attendance periodically throughout the class. Please contact the parish office or the Religious Education department 642-7225, ext. 5 and we will send you a packet of information to assist you in this most important training, to safeguard our children.

OUR DROP BOX IS ALWAYS OPEN The black drop box attached to the Parish Offices at the main door is available to you to drop anything

off, including contribution envelopes, change of address notifications, CCD paperwork , etc. It is

secure and checked often.

Did you know that medical HIPPA laws prevent hospitals from

calling the patient’s priests? Years ago, the hospital would call

your parish to let them know that you were hospitalized. Not any

longer. If you have a loved one hospitalized and they need

prayers or the Sacrament of the Sick, please call the Parish Office

and let Father Mark know. Also, if you have an upcoming

surgery and would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick

beforehand, let Father Mark know that also. The Sacrament is not

just when death may be imminent. It is for all who would like

prayers for their or their loved one’s healing.

There are many ways to donate to St. Peter’s. One way is to consider a bequest for a specific thing or purpose. We pray that you will be inspired to support our parish to the degree you are able. God Bless you all.

Please pray for our nation’s military members and their

families. Also, please pray for all those people who work

tirelessly to protect us and heal us from this pandemic.

A PRAYER OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION Jesus, really present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar, since I cannot now receive thee under the sacramental veil, I beseech thee, with a heart full of love and longing, to come spiritually into my soul through the Immaculate Heart of thy most Holy Mother, and to abide with me, thou in me, and I in thee, in time and in eternity. Amen.

St. Peter’s Outreach Campaign Have you been wondering how all those folks we worship with are doing - and hoping all those who are in need know where to get assistance? Volunteers from St. Peters are reaching out to all parishioners by phone to check on how you are doing during these trying times. We are using your contact information from the latest church directory (Fall, 2019). If you need help or someone to talk to, please call the parish office at 642-7225 extension 3. The office staff are working remotely and will be checking voice mails daily. When we return your call, we’ll have all sorts of information available to assist you. May God bless you and keep you safe. HELPING HANDS CLOTHING CENTER

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE SO MUCH TO BE THANKFUL FOR

Last week Father Mark wrote that we need help to wipe down the church after all Masses. Volunteers stepped forward to come at anytime and parishioners stayed after Mass to help also. We need helpers after each Mass and would ask you to stay and help out. It takes only 10 minutes or so if we all work together. Thank you to all.
