BISHOP’S MONTHLY PRAYER INTENTION

As we begin a new year, may the opportunities for the grace to

clearly recognize the dignity of life, education and ecumenism allow us to better support our brothers and

sisters who need the warmth of Christ’s love and our compassion

14 January 2022

Dear Parishioners of Our Lady of the Lake Parish,

In the interest of transparency, I am informing you that I have received a report of possible mismanagement of parish funds involving Father Ignazio Medina while he was pastor of St. Stani-slaus Parish in Wardsville. We are not aware of any such reports involving Our Lady of the Lake.

I have appointed Deacon James Hankins as the financial admin-istrator of Our Lady of the Lake Parish until further notice. Father Medina, who continues as your pastor, has voluntarily agreed to this restriction of his responsibil-ities while the matter is reviewed. Furthermore, I have directed an independent accounting firm to conduct a financial review.

These actions have been taken out of an abundance of caution. I am fully committed to fulfilling my obligations as your bishop in this matter.

Our commitment to our faith deserves no less than this response. We must hold one another accountable, as good stewards of the gifts God gives to each of us. I am grateful for your generosity and am continually blessed by your witness. Together, we are building a living church, bringing one another to Christ. Thank you.

If you have information or questions about this situation, please contact the diocesan chief financial officer, Deacon Joseph Braddock, at [email protected].

With prayerful best wishes and kind regards, I am Sincerely yours in Christ,Most

Reverend W. Shawn McKnight, S.T.D.Bishop of Jefferson City

Blessed Father Michael McGivney,

Pray for us.
