• Starter refers to a previous lesson's learning• New content taught by teacher, supplying challenge, differentiated to take into account different levels of prior knowledge/cultural capital• Lesson(s) chunked in order to ensure concentration and focus kept a maximum. Thinking time allowed• Application of new knowledge by students• Test to check understanding• Move on to new content

How do you go about doing it?There are various ways• Using homework/out of school learning and tests (see video)• Flipped Mastery learning• Geography - an approach to learning map skills -• Pre test = simple test using a map with a variety of basic questions testing map skills• Skills acquisition - Variety of map skills - Teacher taught followed by formative assessment exercise with determined threshold pass rate (80%) • For those with over 80% - Enrichment = GCSE style question to describe routes using all map skills. • For those under 80% -Teacher led exercise to make sure all others can master these skills followed by second, parallel test
