It provides a review of the tiger's status, historical and present distribution, population dynamics, ecological features and human-tiger conflicts. It describes measures to be taken in order to maintain a self-sustaining tiger population throughout the whole Russian range and differentiation of protective measures according to different parts of the range. Prevention of livestock damage and poaching, captive breeding, and the development of a network of tiger reserves are discussed.
