AVANTI SCHOOLS TRUST
The first image shows a decorative version of the school crest. This is used for large school signage, plaques and in other formal settings. Within each section of the crest you will notice patterns, designed to fit the proportions of the space. The red 90° and 45° pattern is the basis for the Avanti pattern.

Headteacher’s Message
Dear Parents/carers,
It is sad to hear that Nelson Mandela passed away on Thursday. His life was filled with hardship as well as enormous influence as he led the world to re-evaluate how we deal with one another on this small planet we share. Mrs Bana grew up in apartheid regime and remembers fondly helping in the first election which allowed all members of the South African community to vote and contribute fully to society. We led a collective worship talking about his life and what his message meant to the hundreds of thousands and millions of people who were affected by this message: we are equal and deserve respect.
With kind wishes,James Biddulph, Head Teacher, 6-12-13

A brief history
Plans for the Future Communities across the UK have been approaching Avanti Schools Trust to establish schools. The Trust has been working with these communities and plans to respond to this demand with 6–8 new schools by 2017 and a further 5–8 schools by 2020. These schools will be located predominantly within the M25 and the Midlands and will serve the core Hindu populations of more than one million people.
20144 SchoolS
iFoundation was created in 2003 in order to establish the UK’s first state-funded Hindu faith school. In 2005, iFoundation was granted £11.6 million to set up Krishna Avanti Primary School in Harrow but was obliged to raise £1.9 million in donations. This money was raised with the aid of key donors such as the Anil Agarwal Foundation
and ISKCON Bhaktivedanta Manor, helping the project achieve overwhelming success with outstanding results, significant oversubscription and a visit by Her Majesty The Queen.
Avanti House opens; an all-through school for pupils aged 4–18. Year 7 locates temporarily at a teachers’ centre in Harrow and Reception occupies classrooms in KAPS Harrow.
2012
KAPS accepts its first intake of pupils, opening in borrowed space in nearby Little Stanmore School.
20082003
iFoundation formed.
The core AST team grows, taking on full-time staff to support a growing family of schools. The operation is based at KAPS Harrow.
Parliment grants iFoundation status of ‘religious authority’ for Hindu faith schools.
The Queen visits KAPS Harrow for the first day of her Diamond Jubilee tour. The school entertains Her Majesty and Prince Phillip by hosting a spectacular community event.
Ofsted inspects KAPS Leicester and grades the school ‘good’ with behaviour and safety deemed ‘outstanding’.
Camast, a partnership between AST and the University of Cambridge is established to support training, government policy advice and new school development, all with a focus on India.
Children from KAPS and Avanti House Harrow perform traditional songs during a Diwali event at Downing Street hosted by the Prime Minister.
2013
2005
iFoundation is granted £11.6m for the Krishna Avanti Primary School (KAPS) in Harrow, leaving just £1.9m to raise from donors.
201710 SchoolS
202015 SchoolS
In 2011, after the first wave of new schools were approved by the government, Avanti Schools Trust was established as a multi-academy sponsor of the new Krishna Avanti Primary School in Leicester. This school required £200,000 additional funding, which was also successfully raised. Krishna Avanti in Harrow transferred across to Avanti Schools Trust.
In 2012, Parliament granted iFoundation the powers of a religious authority for Hindu faith schools, equivalent to a Church diocese. Two new schools opened, Avanti House in Harrow and Avanti Court in Redbridge, thus growing the Trust to its current size of four schools.
Avanti Court Primary School (ACPS) opens in Redbridge, at the site of a Jewish primary. Refurbishment begin immediately.
AST, now employing over 80 people, hosts the first of its annual conferences.
Phase 1 of Avanti House Secondary is completed and opens to Years 7, 8, 9 & 10.
2015
Ofsted inspects ACPS and grades the school ‘good’. Inspectors are impressed with pupil progress and behaviour, school ethos and leadership.
KAPS Leicester praised in a parliamentary debate by the Secretary of State for Education as an outstanding example of an inclusive free-school with a faith ethos.
2014 2016
The construction of Avanti House Secondary is completed.
2009
KAPS construction at its permanent location is completed on time. The school officially opens for Reception aged children.
2011
Avanti Schools Trust (AST) is established as a multi-academy sponsor.
AST opens Krishna Avanti Primary School in Leicester under the new Free School policy, beginning with two Reception classes.
2010
KAPS receives its first Ofsted inspection and is graded ‘good’ with many outstanding features.

cooking with kindnessWe all know how much kids love animals, and it’s this simple compassion that inspires our approach to school lunches. We’re a conscious kitchen offering a purely vegetarian menu of familiar favourites alongside global gourmet goodies – all without harming creatures of the feathered, four-legged or fishy kind.
FEEL GOOD FOODOur food doesn’t just taste, smell and look good – it feels good too (wait, don’t squish it). ‘Feel good food’ means you can feel good about what you’re eating and where it comes from. The GOVINDA’S GOODNESS GUARANTEE means all of our meals are 100% vegetarian, using as many fresh wholesome ingredients as we can squeeze in.
WORKING AT GOVINDA’SIf you ‘get’ Govinda’s, you might enjoy working with us too. We’re always on the look out for great people to join our kitchens, and if there’s no current vacancies, you can add your details to our mailing list – we’ll contact you as soon as something comes up.
