Sacred Scripture When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. (Acts 2: 1-4) Catechism of the Catholic Church 737 The mission of Christ and the Holy Spirit is brought to completion in the Church, which is the Body of Christ and the Temple of the Holy Spirit. This joint mission henceforth brings Christ’s faithful to share in his communion with the Father in the Holy Spirit. The Spirit prepares men [and women] and goes out to them with his grace, in order to draw them to Christ. The Spirit manifests the risen Lord to them, recalls his word to them and opens their minds to the understanding of his Death and Resurrection. He makes present the mystery of Christ, supremely in the Eucharist, in order to reconcile them, to bring them into communion with God, that they may “bear much fruit” (John 15:8, 16). 738 Thus the Church’s mission is not an addition to that of Christ and the Holy Spirit, but is its sacrament: in her whole being and in all her members, the Church is sent to announce, bear witness, make present, and spread the mystery of the communion of the Holy Trinity. Prayer Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth. O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ our Lord, Amen. St. Monica Youth Ministry Summer Trip St. Monica Youth Ministry will be going on a three-day trip this summer, June 6th-8th. During this trip, we will be visiting St. Meinrad Archabbey, a Benedictine Monastery, and other cool sites. We will have a time to meet and learn more about the Benedictine monks. We will also have the opportunity to camp and enjoy a day at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari! The cost of this trip is $40.00 and it is limited to the first 25 teens who register. Our Next Parish Council?

Let Us Know! The St Monica Parish Council serves a three year term all at once with the idea that we study a few particular topics that are important for the overall vision and direction of the par-ish. After a period of study we then work together with the pastor and staff to offer advice and support to bring that vi-sion about. In the past, those topics have been: being more unified, how to improve being an intercultural parish, and seeking to be a more prayerful parish. For this upcoming council Fr. Todd will be looking for members to advise him on how to continue to deepen our personal prayer and discover our vocation and call to holiness as a parish focus for 2018-19. The goal would then be to have our prayer and vocation help us to begin understanding Catholic evangelization for 2019-20 and beyond. If you or someone you know would be a good council member, write your/their name on the form below and drop it in the box in the narthex or parish office, and we will con-tact them! Important Dates:

Final day for nominations to be submitted is June 3rd.

Discernment for Council members takes place at 7:00pm, Wednesday, June 13th.

El Consejo Parroquial de Sta. Mónica sirve por un término de tres años con la idea de estudiar algunos temas en particular que son importantes para la visión general y dirección de la parroquia. Después de un período de estudio se trabaja junto con el párroco y el personal para ofrecer consejo y apoyo para que se lleve a cabo esa visión. Anteriormente, estos temas han sido: estar más unidos, cómo mejorar el ser una parroquia intercultural, y buscando orar más como parroquia. Para este próximo consejo el P. Todd estará buscando miembros que lo aconsejen acerca de cómo continuar profundizando nuestra oración personal, cómo descubrir nuestra vocación y el llamado a la santidad como parroquia serán los enfoques para el 2018-19. La meta será después tener nuestra oración y vocación para ayudarnos a empezar a entender la evangelización Católica para el 2019-20 y los próximos años. GROUND AND GARDENING MINISTRY Job 8:16 He thrives before the sun and his shoots spread out over his garden.

St. Monica thanks you for dedicating your time and talent to help with the upkeep of gardens on the property. The gardens around the property can become overgrown very quickly and hard to keep up in house, and can be very expensive to hire out. In years past, we have had a work day and the grounds look great for a period of a couple weeks and then begin to become overgrown with weeds. The grounds/gardens have increased over the years, and it has become hard to keep up. The areas that have been adopted are as follows.

We ask that you dedicate yourself or family for the 4 months of summer We will reimburse any moneys for things that have been preapproved Monthly E-mails will be sent out to let you know about how thing look and are going Any additions need to be approved ( flowers and additional foliage) Anything I can do to help don’t hesitate to ask If you feel inclined, you may adopt an area that looks in disrepair that is not on the above list

Job 8:16 A la luz del sol crecía vigoroso y con sus ramas cubría el jardín.

La Iglesia Sta. Mónica le agradece la dedicación de su tiempo y talento para ayudar a mantener nuestros jardines en la propiedad. Los jardines alrededor de la propiedad pueden crecer rápidamente, en estos momentos nos es difícil darle mantenimiento al edificio y sería muy caro contratar a alguien. Los años anteriores, tuvimos un día de trabajo en los jardines, y se vieron bien por unas cuantas semanas pero la hierba empezó a crecer. Los jardines han ido en aumento con el paso de los años, y esto se hace muy difícil de mantener. Las áreas que han sido adoptadas son las siguientes.
