For the LORD is good; God’s steadfast love endures forever, and
God’s faithfulness to all generations. Psalm 100: 5
All generations are blessed by God’s loving and gracious presence - and St Peder’s is no exception!
As we faithfully care for our facility so that we can continue to welcome all people with open hearts,
open hands, and open doors, we invite you to participate in this Generation to Generation Capital
Campaign. Here are some upcoming dates to note:
Mid-May: receive campaign brochure in the mail
May 29, 7:00 p.m. - Visitor Orientation at St Peder’s
Sunday, June 3 - Campaign Sunday (delivering of envelopes)
Sunday, June 10 – Pick-up of envelopes
There will also be a Generation to Generation celebration this summer… look for details to come!
This campaign prayer may be useful to you as you prayerfully consider your participation in this
endeavor to finance renovations at St Peder’s (and tithe what we receive to a ministry outside our
congregation)…
Gracious God, Your great goodness comes to us from generation to generation, blessing us with your
steadfast love and enlivening Spirit so that we may joyfully share your gospel in our ministry. Create in us
generosity and grace as we respond to the invitation of this capital campaign, guide our leaders and volunteers
and bless our giving as we seek to improve our facility so that we may continue to serve you with open hearts,
open hands, and open doors. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Generation to Generation - St Peder’s Capital Campaign 2012
Summer Worship Schedule beginsSummer Worship Schedule beginsSummer Worship Schedule beginsSummer Worship Schedule begins Memorial Day Weekend!Memorial Day Weekend!Memorial Day Weekend!Memorial Day Weekend!
Beginning Sunday, May 27, there will be one worship service at 9:00 a.m. until Rally Day, September 16. A time of coffee and
conversation follows the service each week - and a book study will also be part of our summer agenda for a few weeks (look for more
information to come about that!). A monthly Lawn Service will be a part of our
summer worship again this year when we gather on the north lawn for an outdoor service (providing it doesn’t rain!). Also coming later this summer… rock balancing!
(Watch for further info - you won’t want to miss this!)
And the crowds asked him, "What then shall we do?" And he answered them, "Whoever has two tunics is to share with
him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." Luke 3:10-11
I am so proud to say that sharing with others is a tangible part of our ministry at St. Peders. As a congregation I believe
we are very thoughtful about our commitment to helping those in need. This month I’d like to highlight just a few, very
significant, activities that help define us as a congregation.
LSS Safe House – For years the members of St. Peders have committed to bringing a nourishing meal to
homeless youth on Monday evenings. That’s 52 times each year when we show our love and concern for teens
who may not get much love in their lives. Even though we never meet these young people, I have to believe that
our commitment touches their hearts (in addition to filling their tummies!).
Dorothy Day – Whenever a month has five Saturdays St. Peders members are there to serve breakfast. The folks
we serve come from all backgrounds - and it’s clear that many have had troubles in their lives. While the center
provides the food, whenever I’ve worked there, I see St. Peders members bringing something just as important –
respect for each person as an individual and a child of God.
Metro Paint-a-Thon – Each summer St. Peders members provide a full crew of painters and carpenters to
“refresh” a metro home. And, each year I am amazed at how consistently the people of St. Peders go well above
their assigned tasks to make things just a little better for the homeowners.
Thank you to those who plan and coordinate these activities and to those who show up to make them happen. By reaching
out to those in need – through your food, your talents, and the giving of your respect - you truly exemplify Christ’s love in
the world!

An Estate Gift from Wes Swanson
Wes Swanson was an active member at St Peder’s for many years until his move to Episcopal Church
Home because of failing health. Wes was best-known as our “sound man” - caring for and managing our
sound system in the sanctuary - and for greeting people at the door on Sunday mornings. Wes was 90
years old when he died last fall. Wes will long be remembered at St Peder’s - and he remembered us in
his estate planning. His gift to St Peder’s will be distributed to support sound system expansions and
enhancements, the organ fund, technology updates, handicapped accessibility for our doors, and the
Generation to Generation Campaign. We are very grateful for Wes’ generosity and faithfulness, in his
life and his legacy; his gift benefits our mission to joyfully live the gospel with open hearts, open hands,
and open doors.
