  • VIRTUAL vs Face-to-face (F2F) instruction

For 2020-21, parents may choose VIRTUAL or F2F ON CAMPUS instruction for their children. Both will be taught by MBE teachers.

    ● VIRTUAL- These are students who plan to do virtual learning for an extended time.

    ● ON CAMPUS - These are students who will come to school on campus F2F starting August 24 through the duration of the school year.

Your child’s current teacher is based on the choice you have made so far. If you change the option for your child, please know that you may have a teacher change in an effort to keep class sizes balanced throughout the year.

Fill out the LEARNING LOCATION FORM at any time if you need to change your choice.

    https://documents.humbleisd.net/Forms/LearningLocation

  • Virtual Attendance ❏ Teachers will take attendance by 3pm. (What counts as

PRESENT?)❏ Student present in live zoom❏ Student engagement on learning platform

(Seesaw or Google Classroom)❏ Teacher interaction with student via phone call,

email, small group, zoom, direct message via learning platform.

❏ Teachers can edit absence until 11:59pm if student status changes after 3:00pm.

❏ Students marked absent by the teacher will be captured overnight and changed to PRESENT by the district, if a student logs in and completes work through their MyHumble account by 11:59pm.

  • VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION(for students choosing to remain online after august 24)

    ● Humble ISD is an asynchronous district with some synchronous learning opportunities.● Synchronous opportunities would be LIVE ZOOMS for guided reading,

guided math, small group work, family time.● Asynchronous learning opportunities are uploaded into the LMS (Google

CR/Seesaw). Examples are recorded mini lesson videos, learning activities, independent practice in which grades and teacher feedback may be given.

    ● Zooms are a part of our online learning platforms which offer the same instructional/educational purpose as a classroom, it's just a different location. Parents, please help us maintain the Zoom as a learning environment by minimizing distractions and family appearances or interactions with other students and the teacher(s). If you need to speak to the teacher please utilize the “Help Desk” time each day or schedule a parent/teacher conference as to not interrupt the instructional Zoom sessions.

    ● Instructional Expectations - 180 minutes daily asynchronous and synchronous blend learning opportunities. Approximately, 80 minutes Literacy, 70 minutes Math, 30 minutes Science or Social Studies

  • VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION(for students choosing to remain online after august 24)

    ● Virtual students will be required to be engaged DAILY in online learning and be counted for daily attendance

    ● There will be a daily Family Time Meeting via Zoom and daily assignments on Seesaw or Google Classroom. Small group instruction via Zoom will be scheduled throughout the week.

    ● MBE Learning Management Systems ○ PK - 2 Seesaw○ 3- 5 Google Classroom

    ● Assignments and assessments will be similar for both online and on campus learners. Grading policies are the same for both. Online assignments will have specific due dates.

    ● Virtual teachers will have daily “help desk time” during which parents/students can reach them for assistance.

  • F2F Attendance (as of 8/24)❏ ON CAMPUS ATTENDANCE TIME = 9:07 a.m.❏ Students who arrive after 8:00 will be counted tardy.❏ Students not present at 9:07 will be counted absent.❏ Students who are not present at 9:07, BUT come in

the same day with a note from a doctor or dental office, will be counted present.

❏ To EXCUSE an absence, parents must: Send an email to [email protected],

Call the Absence Line at 281-641-2903, or complete the Google Absence Form

  • F2F (on campus)CoVid-19 safety procedures

    ● Under Governor Abbott’s Orders- face coverings are required while indoors for all adults and all students in 4th grade and above (unless a medical condition prevents them from wearing one)

    ● ALL students/staff are welcomed/highly encouraged to wear masks throughout the year even after the Governor’s orders expire.

    ● Daily cleaning procedures for all classrooms (desks/tables) ● Use of misting machines daily after hours to further clean classrooms● Hand sanitizer will be available in all classrooms and around campus● Specials classes will be sanitized between classes● COVID-19 Safety Signage throughout campus● Students will be educated about the importance of frequent hand washing;

covering a cough or sneeze; not touching one’s face.● Water fountains will not be in use. Students will use personal water bottles that

can be filled at our 2 filtered water bottle filling stations.

  • F2F Physical Distancing

    ● As of 8/14/2020, MBE has 359 F2F Learners and 263 Virtual Learners. With only 58% of our students on campus, we will have the opportunity to physically distance our homeroom classes across campus, to minimize mixing of students. This will be achieved by:

    ■ Space between lunch tables■ Recess zones per homeroom■ Grade level assigned restrooms■ PE classes will not mix■ Arrival and Dismissal straight to/from classrooms

    ● Teachers will be designated either a Virtual teacher or a F2F teacher. Therefore, the F2F classes will have a typical class size of 18-25 students, depending on the grade level.

    ● Homeroom classes are like small “families.” Students will be taught to keep distance as much as possible and to wash/sanitize hands often, however social distancing will not be practiced within homerooms.

    ● Personal supplies (pencils, crayons, etc.) will not be shared. Classroom materials, books, and technology will be shared. However, items will be sanitized as needed.
