CITY OF MEDFORD

A Public Hearing will be held by the Medford City Council in the Howard F. AldenMemorial Chambers, City Hall, Medford, MA., on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at7:00 P.M.



The purpose of the hearing is to hear the Board of Assessors on the followingitems for the purpose of allocation of the FY 2016 Property Tax.

1. To determine the residential factor to be used for FY 20162. Select an open space discount

3. Select a residential exemption4. Select a small commercial exemption

15-788-Offered by Councillor KnightBe It Resolved a representative from Tufts University meet with the Council toexplain the function of TEMS. Be it further resolved representatives from thePolice Department, Fire Department, and Armstrong Ambulance be requested toattend.

15-789- Offered by Councillor KnightBe It Resolved that the Traffic Commission forward to the Council an update ontheir deliberations regarding Citywide resident permit parking.

15-790- Offered by Vice President Lungo-KoehnBe It Resolved that the office of energy and environment update the City Councilwith regard to what has been done and what is scheduled to be done from thecity's standpoint regarding water conservation within city buildings

15-792- Offered by Councillor PentaBe It Resolved that the matter of the school department cafeteria employees thatwas discussed at our budget meetings be reviewed.

15-793- Offered by Councillor PentaBe It Resolved that Medford residents Henry and Evelyne Milorin be awarded acouncil citation for their continuing supporting work within the disabilitycommunity within Medford and with surrounding communities. Their efforts weremost recently recognized at the November meeting of ARC, a nationallyrecognized organization that deals with the intellectual and physical disabilities ofthose less fortunate.



15-795-Offered by Vice President Lungo-KoehnBe It Resolved that the proposed tax levy be reduced by one million dollars,which is less than half of the amount we put into free cash from last year'sbudget.

Dear Mr. President and City Councillors:

I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body approve thetransfers from overlay surplus to Revaluation account 010-141-5310 totaling$250,000 as outlined in the attached memo from the City Assessor and theBoard of Assessors.

This amount will fund the state mandated revaluation of all real and personalproperty in the City required by the Bureau of Local Assessment of the Dept. ofRevenue.

The City Assessor, Ed O’Neil and City Auditor, Anne Baker are present thisevening to answer any questions you may have.
