experience the Magic of Lord’s

The most famous cricket ground in the world, Lord’s is a place where legends are made. Founded by

Thomas Lord in 1787 as the home of Marylebone Cricket Club, it moved to its current site in St John’s Wood in 1814, and is now the ultimate destination for international players and cricket fans alike. It’s also steeped in history and charm, with extraordinary

architecture and a fascinating collection of cricketing art and memorabilia, including the iconic Ashes Urn.

But you don’t have to attend a match at Lord’s to experience its year-round magic. From the old-world elegance of the Grade II* listed Pavilion to the cutting-edge modernity

of the J.P. Morgan Media Centre, Lord’s is an exceptional venue for meetings, exhibitions, conferences and dinners.

We can provide anything from a sumptuous private dining room to one of London’s largest and most adaptable venues,

One of the most celebrated buildings in the sporting world, the Pavilion never fails to make an extraordinary impression. Built in 1889 as the clubhouse for Marylebone Cricket Club,

this fine example of Victorian architecture commands a breathtaking view across the Ground, and houses the famous

Long Room, Writing Room, Committee Dining Room and the more recent addition of the Pavilion Roof Terrace.

A magical place for receptions, dinners and lunches, the Pavilion offers opulent and elegant interiors, filled with the world’s finest collection of cricketing art and permeated

by the history of the game. You don’t need to be a cricket enthusiast in order to be swept away by the

glamour of cricket’s grandest clubhouse.

Long rooM and Long rooM Bar

The Long Room, fronting the Pavilion, is a world-famous sight at Lord’s – international cricket players have to pass through it on

their way onto and off the field of play. A magnificent backdrop for elegant dinners, lunches and receptions, it has high, ornate ceilings

and is fronted by glass along its entire 27m length. Its walls are lined with fine paintings celebrating the game from the 18th century to the present day. The adjoining Long Room Bar can also be used as

a characterful drinks reception area for Long Room occasions.

The elegantly furnished Writing Room is a beautifully proportioned and intimate setting for smaller lunches, dinners or receptions. Hung

with famous paintings of cricketing scenes, including the striking ‘England v Australia at Lord’s’, an imaginary game watched by high

society ladies and gentlemen, it offers excellent views of the Ground from the north end of the Pavilion.

J.p. Morgan Media centre

Built to celebrate the new millennium at Lord’s, the J.P. Morgan Media Centre became an instant icon in the world

of cricket. The preserve of journalists and commentators on match days, it offers a great opportunity for unconventional

entertaining, with panoramic views of the Ground.

As the world’s only single-shell aluminium building, this futuristic pod was an extraordinary engineering feat achieved through the

precision of shipbuilders. It opened to international acclaim and won the prestigious Stirling Prize for architecture in 1999.

Any event in this amazing structure is an exhilarating and memorable experience. With tiered seating looking out across

to the Pavilion, and a sky-blue curved reception area, it’s a striking environment for meetings, seminars, dinners and product launches.

While the stands at Lord’s are packed with ardent cricket fans on match days, they also offer impressive venues for other types of occasion.

The Sir Pelham Warner Room and the Tavern Meeting Rooms, normally a private dining room and private boxes respectively, make exceptional spaces for meetings or syndicate rooms, with superb views of the pitch.

On the other side of the Ground, the Mound Stand Terrace is perfect for outdoor receptions with a difference.

And for wholly alfresco occasions, it’s hard to beat the delightful Harris Garden near the Pavilion.

The Sir Pelham Warner Room is a versatile space between the Pavilion and the Grand Stand with an unimpeded view over

the playing area. Named after one of the great figures of Lord’s, Sir ‘Plum’ Warner, who captained MCC on its inaugural tour to

Australia in 1903-1904, the room is used on match days as a private restaurant for MCC Members. With natural light and excellent

facilities, it is an ideal space for meetings, lectures and conferences.

The Tavern Meeting Rooms are on the second tier of the Tavern Stand, with magnificent views of the pitch from the balcony. On match days, these ten rooms are the private boxes from

which celebrity guests can sip champagne and view the game. Throughout the rest of the year, they are an outstanding space

for syndicate rooms or for smaller meetings.

The Harris Garden is a charming rose garden laid out on the former site of a lawn tennis court near the entrance to the Pavilion.

Constructed in 1934 in memory of the renowned cricketer and politician, Lord Harris, it is a tranquil oasis in the heart of London, and forms a lovely alfresco venue for summer parties and receptions.

The Mound Stand Terrace is a unique outdoor space at the top of the famous Mound Stand that offers one of the best views of

the Ground. With its ‘tented’ roof, it has a nostalgic feel, recalling the marquees of village cricket, yet with all the glamour of Lord’s.

Built in 1987 to commemorate the bicentenary of MCC, it is a light, airy and original venue for elegant summer occasions

– cocktail parties, alfresco dining or open-air receptions.

MuseuM, fiLM theatre and tours

The world’s oldest sporting museum, housing an unrivalled collection of cricketing art and memorabilia, is an entertaining and distinctly unusual venue for a drinks reception. It is often

used in conjunction with the Long Room as a location for pre-dinner drinks, and can also form an added attraction

for the guests of other events held within the Ground.

Filled with over 30,000 exhibits, ranging from the cricketing kit of some of the greatest players in the world to the stuffed sparrow that was ‘bowled out’ by Jahangir Khan in 1936, the Museum is a

treasure house that intrigues cricket fans and agnostics alike. And of course one exhibit towers above all the rest – the tiny

Ashes Urn, the most famous symbol in the history of cricket.

MuseuM, fiLM theatre and tours

Located inside the Museum, the Brian Johnston Film Theatre (named after the much-loved cricket commentator) is a small theatre

space used to screen films and footage from the cricketing world. It’s also perfect for seminars, presentations and press conferences.

A tour of the Ground is an ideal way to experience the magic of Lord’s, and can be incorporated into any of our events.

Our knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guides take guests behind the scenes of the Home of Cricket, visiting the

Honours Boards in the Players’ Dressing Rooms, the Long Room and the iconic J.P. Morgan Media Centre.

Lord’s is very close to the centre of London – just 1.5 miles from Marble Arch – and easy to reach by road, tube and bus.

Parking is usually available for the event organisers and their principal guests, and there are several car parks within a mile of the Ground.

St John’s Wood is the closest tube station (approximately 5 minutes’ walk), and Warwick Avenue, Marylebone,

Edgware Road and Baker Street are all within 15 minutes’ walk.

Lord’s is also well served by buses, and several routes run alongside the Ground.

The chic St John’s Wood High Street and the charming and tranquil Regent’s Park are only a few minutes’ walk from Lord’s,

and there are plenty of bars and restaurants within easy reach of the Ground. St John’s Wood is also famous for the

Abbey Road Studios, a mecca for Beatles fans.
