Sine Thesis Ice Lite

A conceptual audacity worthy of a Jules Verne novel.

Don’t bother looking for an equivalent to Sine-Thesis, there isn’t one. For the simple reason that only MET is able to construct a shell with such a high level of complexity.

Stradivarius HES

Revolutionary architecture. Proven efficiency.

On 17th March 2013, Gerald Ciolek and his Stradivarius HES entered the history books of cycling by winning the Milan Sanremo.

The ‘Classicissima’, the longest course of the season at 298 km, was made even more difficult because of the hellish weather conditions straight out of a Dante novel. An interminable day on the bike with rain followed by freezing temperatures and even snow, then the last climbs, Cipressa and Poggio, a small breakaway group, the favourites are there, it is important to keep a cool head, to analyse the race and to plan an attack at just the right moment. In other words, the type of test that our engineers would never be able to reproduce in a laboratory ;-)

In the event of an impact the pressure on the helmet shell is uneven; we can see that most of the pressure is concentrated within a limited area. HES con-struction, which involves em-bedding two homothetic shells, spreads most of the pressure built up by the compression at the impact point and thus dis-sipates the force of impact over the whole shell.

Our Advanced Research office designed its own tool for virtual development called Nova3. It enables them to virtually test all the parameters of resistance and performance of a helmet design. When we are ready to launch production of the first prototype, our project has already been fine tuned and validated.

A design which reaches for the finishing line.

Whether it is the deep air intake vents in front, the maxi rear vents, the extended lateral lines; every single detail of Estro’s design shows just how much effort has gone into creating a helmet which is both well-ventilated and extremely aerodynamic. The shell of the Estro has depressions which are used to positively modify drag force by influencing the behaviour of the boundary layer (interface zone between the helmet and the air around it), a fundamentally important aspect of aerodynamics.

In-mould construction involves the fusing together in the same matrix of the two parts of the hel-met shell (the interior part made of polystyrene and the exterior made of polycarbonate) during the moulding process. Si vis pacem para bellum.

Originally, the De re militari was a treatise addressed to the emperor on his request about how to rein in the decadence of the Roman Empire. For the author Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus, the solution was to go back to ancient military practices. Even today his work is included on the reading list of many modern military academies. In the prologue to book III, he highlights the need to engage the troops in advance of any hostilities and concludes: “... si vis pacem para bellum… “, which could be translated in all-mountain jargon as if you want to conquer the mountains with peace of mind, start by protecting yourself!

When setting out to create the Terra helmet our designers kept in mind several factors which are closely linked to the needs of all-mountain riding. With active head cooling; branch deflector visor; a light-weight and a snug fit to the head, it’s designed for even the roughest terrain.

The Crossover is not only the helmet which is adapted

to all terrains and suitable for all situations, it is also

the helmet which can fit all heads, as it is now available

in XL size.

The exclusive Clip-on-anchor sy-stem means you can attach the Crossover’s visor to two ancho-ring points behind the straps. This means the holes which are usually needed to attach the visor to the shell have been eliminated. The result: Aesthetically you will always look great, whether you choose to use your helmet with or without the visor.

routes in the EuroVelo network. Its aim is to follow three of the biggest major European rivers; cradles of European civilisation: The

Loire, the Rhine andthe Danube.

The visor’s role is to shield the face and especially the eyes from potential damage from branches, provide protection from the sun or, if the weather is less favou-rable, from being splattered by mud... The Pilgrim’s visor is easily removed without tools to suit your mood.

The anti-insect net prevents in-sects from entering the helmet through the front air intakes and thus reduces the risk of stings and bites. With the Crackerjack the netting is an integral part of the shell, inserted between the polycarbonate and polystyrene layers at time of the In-mould fusion.

By analysing their own children’s behaviour, our engineers and de-signers use their everyday expe-rience as cyclists and parents as inspiration to constantly improve the little details that make such a big difference. The buckle which closes the strap system has been designed to avoid pinching the skin when it is being closed, even when it is being handled in the clumsiest way.

The standard setter in safety for the youngest riders.

Looking at our Elfo and Genio models is rather like looking at an iceberg. I’m sure you’ll notice that the back of the helmet is almost flat to allow the child to sit up straight in the bike seat of their parent’s bike. But it is only when you turn the helmet over, which is not quite as easy to do with an iceberg, that you’ll be able to realise exactly how much work our designers have put into the ventilation system and safety features.

Trends for 2014. Valor does not only come with age, neither does the right to

follow fashion! This year the Elfo and Genio ranges have been embellished with new trendy patterns and colours.

The internal air channels gua-rantee really efficient head co-oling. Even more importantly, ‘Bimbi-Secure’ internal geometry is designed to avoid any pressu-re points of the helmet touching the fontanel, the most sensitive part of the child’s skull, even on impact.

We set our hearts on working on the materials and the details in order to

more attractive. Minimalist graphics and brightcolours – perfect for

Unlike In-mould construction technique used for the rest of our range, Twin-shell construc-tion means that the outer shell – the coloured one - is joined to the shell made of polystyrene foam after the latter has already been moulded. This construction technique is more cost-effective, however, it may result in a higher shell volume in order to achieve the same shock absorption ca-pacity. For the Buddy and Super Buddy range, this increase in vo-lume is practically unnoticeable.
