10:45am - 12:00pm The Art and Science of DebriefingEvidence clearly shows that providing feedback to learners and opportunity for repetitive, deliberate practiceimproveslearning.Inthissessionparticipantslearnprovendebriefingtechniquesthathelptoimprove the performance of individuals and teams.

1:00pm - 2:45pm Train-the-Trainer: Using Role Play for DebriefingCertainly debriefing is as important as the simulation itself. In this immersive session participants will take on different roles to build their debriefing skills.

10:45am - 12:00pm From Learning Objectives to OutcomesEvaluation of the outcomes of a simulation experience stem directly from the teaching objectives. A very simple scenario can be used to reinforce basic bedside practices or as a cornerstone for team training. Building a successful evaluation regime begins with a set of learning objectives tailored to your organization’sneeds.Thissessionwillprovideguidanceforanobjective-basedscenariodesignleadingtorepeatableevaluationtechniques.

1:00pm - 2:45pm Planning for Clinical Simulation Participate in a guided discussion on essential topics related to building your clinical simulation lab. Blended LearningWhensecondscount, successfulresuscitationoutcomesrequirecriticaldecisionsandeffectiveteamwork.Inthese sessions you will see how a blended approach of eLearning and hands-on simulation provides a solution that improves both the efficiency and effectiveness of your resuscitation training programs.

Research in SimulationResearch and data are the best means for identifying the impact simulation education is having on your learners. Learn how to begin collecting data, star t a research study, and apply for funding. Then discover new waystoutilizethefindingstopromoteReturnonInvestment(ROI)benefitsforthecenter, fundersandpublic.

10:45am - 12:00pm Utilizing Blended Learning to Improve Efficiencies Implementing blended learning can reduce costs, enable training of more people in less time and contributetothestandardizationofeducationdeliveredacrossteamsanddepartments.Byutilizing combinations of various education methods such as self-directed cognitive learning with psychomotor hands-on simulation, blended learning can create high-level efficiencies in educational delivery. 1:00pm - 2:45pm Exercises in Blended LearningCombining self-directed cognitive skill development with simulation practice works to improve retention while developing strong team-based communication. In this hands-on session, participants will complete an e-simulation megacode scenario in an electronic environment. Following the e-simulation, participants will work as a team to run a hands-on simulation of the same scenario.

1:00pm - 2:45pm Top Tips, Tricks and Media for Advanced UsersNot a beginner’s course. Pick up best practices, tricks and time-saving ideas with other Super Users in a facilitated round table to exchange best practices.

10:45am - 12:00pm Using Data to Help Prove a Return on Investment Collecting data through simulation experiences is something we don’t often consider. To understand how simulation can be impactful directly correlates with keeping track of human processes, human behavior and trends. Through data collection, subjective and objective feedback we can provide that information to not only funders but also the public. Understanding a Return on Investment (ROI) goes a long way when justify-ing the need for additional funding. 1:00pm - 2:45pm Research and Grant Writing 101Key funding opportunities lie in one’s ability to work through research that will not only impact a change in human behavior but also improve healthcare. While research may seem intimidating, with some guidance and a basic understanding in methodology one can easily work through a simple research project. Learn the benefits, challenges and processes involved in successfully completing a grant application and a research project. Not only will you learn the tricks, you will also gain a better understanding of how to explain what you hope to accomplish.

Day Two Agenda Day Two

Improving Perinatal SafetyIn an average week in the United States, over 82,000 babies are born. That’s approximately 4.3 million per year. The need for training is enormous. All segments of the medical field need to be prepared to handle a delivery. Whether in the Labor and Delivery department where deliveries occur several times a day or an Emergency Department that only sees a delivery occasionally, the need for individual and team training is vital. The ultimate goal of training is to improve clinical outcomes and improve patient safety.
