To commemorate the 100th
Anniversary of the creation of
ROTC, Cadet Command sent a
request to all host universities to
nominate two of their alumni to
be inducted into the newly creat-
ed ROTC Hall of Fame.
Cadet Command requested that
“one with a distinguished record
of military service and another
who left service but went on to a
distinguished civilian career.”
The two alumni that will repre-
sent the University of Iowa are
MG (r) Stewart Wallace (‘68),
former commander of Cadet
Command, and Justice Arthur
McGiverin (‘51), retired Chief
Justice of the Iowa Supreme
Court.
Congratulations to these two
deserving Hawkeyes. Their biog-

UI Wrestling Military Appreciation Night
Department Information With summer approaching
again, we have some personnel
changes occurring soon at the
Mighty Hawkeye Battalion.
Mr. Allen Moore, our HRA,
transferred to the Veterans
Administration this year. We
have nearly completed the
hiring process for our new
HRA- and we hope it will be a
familiar name.
CPT Rodney Bunyan was se-
lected for promotion to Major
and will be attending ILE at
Fort Leavenworth, KS. While
we will miss him, we wish him
luck with this PCS. All of our
other cadre are remaining until
next summer, and will be ro-
tating through Cadet Summer
Training (CST) at Fort Knox,
KY.
During the first weekend in
April the Mighty Hawkeye
Battalion sent 51 Cadets to
Camp Dodge for the annual
spring FTX.
The FTX was a joint operation
conducted with Northern
Iowa, Iowa State, University of
Nebraska—Lincoln and
Creighton University.
The underclassmen from all
five schools were broken
down and divided into differ-
ent platoons. The Hawkeye
seniors operated a Company
HQ with three platoons. The
Company HQ then ran the
platoons through a series of
five tactical scenarios.
This is the capstone collective
training exercise that prepares
the Juniors for CST at Fort
Knox, KY.
Duty Scholarship. Jessica
serves in the 209th Medical
BN of the IA ARNG.
Emily Jefferson (‘18), is a Hu-
man Physiology major and is
the RA for the ROTC Living
Learning Community. Emily
received a 3 year ROTC Schol-
arship.
On 5 February 2016, the Uni-
versity of Iowa Wrestling team
hosted Military Night during
their duel meet with Indiana.
Military ID card holders re-
ceived free admission to the
meet and T-shirts were given
away to the first 500 fans. The
Hawkeye grapplers didn’t dis-
appoint the crowd as they
whipped the Hoosi-
ers 45-0.
During the intermis-
sion the ROTC PMS
LTC Zach Buettner
(‘97), MAJ Christo-
pher Guderski and
SFC Ricky Crouse
rappelled from the
roof of Carver Haw-
keye Arena. LTC
Buettner then swore
in 3 new cadets into
the ROTC program.

from Sullivan, IL, and
an Athletic Training
major, received a 3
