Our God-given business is:Managing our

personal finances

RESEARCH:

•What are their spending habits?  

•Do they have a budget?  

•How do the really well off people think?  

•What are their thoughts on money?  

RESEARCH:

Very expensive neighborhoods

•People with a lot of stuff

•Cars, the toys, the looks and the debts but

•Most of them don't have a lot of money

RESEARCH:

Middle class homes• Millionaire next door.•They live beneath their means.•They lived on what they made.•Often times bought used cars, stayed in the same home for years and years.•They simply invested.

CONCLUSION:

•The bulk of people with money is often in the home of the regular looking person next door.

•The people in the often big showy homes are pretenders pretending to live a lifestyle they cannot afford.

Proverbs 13:7One man pretends to be rich but has nothing; another pretends to be poor but has great wealth.

Proverbs 12:9Better to be dishonored, yet have a servant, than to act important but have no food.

Remember our key verse for last week,

Proverbs 22:7

The rich rule over the poor,and the borrower is a slave

to the lender.

What is another foundational problem?

We have learned to askthe wrong questions.

“How much money down is this going to take?”

“How much is it going to cost a month?

WE HAVE LEARNED TO ASKTHE WRONG QUESTIONS.

“What’s the most I can get into for the least down.”

What is the real cost of our unbiblical stewardship?

INSTEAD OF ASKING HOW MUCH IS THE REAL COST, IT GOES LIKE

THIS

Today we believe debt is normal

•Debt is necessary.

•Few years ago, few are borrowing, no credit cards etc., but now almost everybody has a loan and has credit cards, some not one card but many cards.

That’s how fast our mindset has changed.

•What is the real cost?

•How much do you think they owe in credit card debt?

•How much interest on credit cards? 3 to 3.5 % per month.

•You must pray to God first before buying something. •You are to make decisions based on decisions that God gave you. •Have a plan. •Have self-discipline.

PROVERBS 25:28

A man who does not control his temper

is like a city whose wall is broken down

IF YOU DON’T HAVE CONTROL OF YOUR MONEY OR ANY

AREA OF YOUR LIFE, YOU ARE LIKE A CITY WHOSE WALLS

ARE BROKEN DOWN.

Learn to say, "No," for just a little while.

So we can say, "Yes," for the rest of our lives.

No to the things that everyone else thinks are necessary, but are not.

We are going to be different.We are going to say no to

•Do you really need a newer home?

•Do you really need a brand new car right now?

•Do you really need those flashy gadgets right away?

PRAYbefore you pay

•Don't give in to every impulse.

•"Like a city whose walls are broken down is a person who lacks self-control.“

•Get control of your money.

PROVERBS 21:5

The plans of the diligent certainly lead to profit, but

anyone who is reckless certainly becomes poor.

DEVELOPLING YOUR BUSINESS PLAN:

1. Plan for emergencies

•We are not of this world. We are not driven by this world. We have a higher calling. We have a higher purpose.
