TG4 have just sent a press release confirming they
have secured the highlights rights for the Heineken Cup
and The Amlin Challenge cup from RTE The deal is for
3 years so it will cover the 2013 final ndash for which
Dublin was announced as host city yesterday
So will the audience watch in the same numbers on
TG4 TG4 will have commentary rsquoas Gaeilgersquo and
there will be no
Hook or Pope
The highlights of
this years final - Leinster V Northhampton - was watched by
275000 adults on RTE2
However the really interesting thing here is what is TG4primes plan
They are moving in on RTErsquos rugby coverage for the 2nd year in a
row Last year it was shared rights to the Magners League this
year the Heineken Cup highlightshellip next year the Six Nations
I donrsquot think TG4 would have the budget to bid for the 6 Nations
but who knows they definitely have a rugby strategy so we will be
watching this one closely
