Solenoid Valve See Figure 5. MiniBlue guns use either small SD solenoid valves or largeSG solenoid valves:

If the production line speed is 90 m/min (295 ft/min) or less, eitherSD or SG solenoid valves may be used.

If the production line speed is greater than 90 m/min (295 ft/min),only SG solenoid valves may be used.

Solenoid valves may be configured for independent, common, orprogrammed module actuation, as described in Table 3.

Table 3 Types of Module Air Actuation

Type of Actuation Description

Independent One solenoid valve directly actuates onemodule

Common One solenoid valve actuates all modules.

NOTE: SD solenoid valves may not beused in common air gun configurations.

Programmed Two solenoid valves actuate actuate twogroups (left and right) of modules

NOTE: For the best module performance in intermittent applications,Nordson Corporation recommends the use of one solenoid valve permodule (independent actuation). Module performance will be sacrificedproportionately as more modules are controlled by a single solenoidvalve (common or programmed actuation).

Dispensing Module See Figure 6. MiniBlue guns use either reduced-cavity or ball-and-seatdispensing modules:

Reduced-cavity modules have an integral nozzle and are virtuallyself-cleaning. The modules are available with 0.20, 0.30, 0.41, and0.51 mm (0.008. 0.012, 0.016, and 0.020 in.) nozzle orifice sizes.

Ball-and-seat modules are used in combination with Saturn nozzles, allowing easier change-out of nozzle sizes and eliminating the needto stock multiple reduced-cavity modules with different orifice sizes.

A MiniBlue gun may have 1−8 modules. Air is supplied constantly to amodule through a solenoid valve. When the gun is not being triggered, airwill flow through the module’s air-close port to keep the module needle onits seat. When triggered, the solenoid valve will direct air into the air-openport, lifting the needle from its seat to dispense the adhesive.

D

Electrical service 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz

Solenoid valve power supply 24 VDC only E

NOTE A: MiniBlue gun modules operate as air-open, air-close valves. The loss or elimination of air pressure to thegun solenoid valve without a corresponding reduction in system hydraulic pressure may cause the gunmodules to remain open.

B: System hydraulic pressures are application-dependent. Variables such as the adhesive type and productline speed must be considered when establishing an optimum system hydraulic pressure.

C: Use dry, regulated, unlubricated air for consistent gun operation.

D: On reduced-cavity guns, the nozzle is an integral part of the gun module.

E: Contact your Nordson representative to use an alternate power supply.

Table 9 Explanation of Gun Configuration Code Positions (see Figure 38)

CodePosition Description Code Values

1 Gun model H100

2 Number of modules 00 = slim single-module gun (18 mm), 1 module01 = Configurable single-module gun (40 mm), 1 module02−08 = Configurable multi-module gun, 2−8 modules

3 Module type R08 = reduced cavity, 0.20 mm (0.008 in.)R12 = reduced cavity, 0.30 mm (0.012 in.)R16 = reduced cavity, 0.41 mm (0.016 in.)R20 = reduced cavity, 0.51 mm (0.020 in.)STD = H100B, ball-and-seat

4 Cordset type T = standard RTDW = water-resistant RTD

5 Cordset position BS = slim single-module gunLS = left side (configurable guns only)RS = right side (configurable guns only)LB = left back (configurable guns only)RB = right back (configurable guns only)

6 Air supply configuration CA = common air (see Note B)IA = independent airPA = programmed air (two module groups only)

7 Hose connector/inline filter angle(see Note A)

F0 = no angleF4 = 45 angleF9 = 90 angle

8 Additional hose ports (all guns havethree hose ports)

3 = one hose port on each end and one centered on back5 = one hose port on each end and three on back (one inthe center and one at each end)

9 Solenoid valve type(see Notes B and C)

SD = line speeds ≤ 90 m/min (295 ft/min)SG = all line speeds

10 Voltage A = 230 VACB = 200 VAC

11 Programmed air groups PA = programmed air (two module groups only)

NOTE A: On slim single-module guns, the hose connector is located just above the integrated filter. On single- ormulti-module configurable guns, the filter is inline with the hose connector.

B: SD solenoid valves may not be used in common air gun configurations.

C: If production line speed is 90 m/min (295 ft/min), use either SD or SG solenoid valves. production linespeed is >90 m/min (295 ft/min), use only SG solenoid valves.
