Writing

This week we are going to think about Daily Life in Ancient Greece. Use the online links and document at the VERY bottom of the pack to help. Imagine you are an Ancient Greek. Write a postcard to your friend to tell them what you have been getting up to in your daily life in Ancient Greek times. Use adjectives, verbs and adverbs. To show off use some similes. DO NOT forget capital letters and punctuation needed. When you are finished your writing you can draw a picture for the reverse side of your postcard of a scene from Ancient Greece like the picture opposite. Postcard template is below.

Punctuation and grammar

Synonyms and antonyms. Remember a synonym is a word that has the same meaning as another word such as beautiful = gorgeous. An antonym is a word that has the opposite meaning to a word for example: dark = bright. Fill in the synonyms and antonyms in the worksheet.

Magnets are commonly used in items around the home. See if you can make a list of at least 5 items in your home that use a magnet. Research online and create an information leaflet to show how magnets attract and repel each other. You can include your examples that you found in your home in your leaflet to help you to explain.

Week 4 – Reconciliation. This is our final week of reconciliation – thinking of good choices and choices that we can learn from and ask for forgiveness for. Think of the work you have done on choices including the stories you have heard and the prayer cards you have made. Set up your own collective worship at home with an adult like we do in class. You may use: music/ special prayers/ a focal point/ candles/ perhaps a letter you have written. Have some quiet time to reflect upon choices you have made and how you can learn from them to influence your choices in the future. See bottom of pack for further guidance. Design and Technology Geography History

Design a Greek shop Challenge: Based on what you have learnt, if you were to open a shop in Greece, what would you sell and why? Design your own shop front – think about: colour, lifestyle, weather, food grown and eaten there. What would you name your shop and why?

Advert Use the information you have found out in the task above and do further research to write a persuasive advert about why people should visit Greece. Remember you have to sell it – you are trying to convince people to go there. You can design this by hand or on a computer or tablet – the choice is yours!

The Ancient Greeks were the inventors of the Olympic Games. Our country hosted the modern day Olympic games the year most of you were born! During the Olympic Games, athletes (Olympians) compete in sports activities against other countries to see which country can win the most medals. Have a look at the powerpoint on the blog and do some research online. Art PSHE&C In the World…

As you may have read above, during the Olympic Games the Ancient Greeks would decorate pots with various athletes and sporting activities. Have a go at designing your own pot.

This week we are thinking about being positive. That means thinking and saying nice things to others but also to ourselves! Have a think - what kind of positive things do people say? Things that make us smile and feel good. Now we need to think about things we are good at – I know this can be difficult. You could ask a relative or sibling to help.

Use these positives to complete the balloons on the sheet in the resources. Write down what you are good at, how you are a good friend and when you are proud of yourself. When you are finished, decorate it and take a moment to look at how amazing you are! ☺

Last half term I asked you to show me what you were already good at. This half term, I’d like you to learn something new – a new hobby or skill. We would love to see your attempts and let us know how it is going. Do you think you will keep going with your new skill? Mrs Askwith is going to do a Zumba Youtube video every day to see if she can improve her fitness and learn how to dance. What are you going to try?

Try to spell the words yourself and then check them using the video. Now for your favourite game – lotto! (bingo) Ask your siblings or parents if they would like to join in. Put some different coloured pencils, pens, anything into a tub. Now get a scrap of paper and fold it into 4 pieces. On your paper choose four colours and put one in each box like this –
