The Annual meeting was held at the Sockeye Brewery. The meeting was called to order by President Darryl Kuhrt. This year’s guests included Nate Shake and Susan Saad from Bogus Basin and past BBSC Presidents.

Nate stated it was a tough season due to lack of snow. Bogus closed more than a month early. It was the shortest season on record, and season pass sales were less than expected. Bogus held a Second Chance Season Pass sale and made over 6,000 calls. They brought in $92,000 in sales and sold 250 season passes. They are hopeful to generate

more revenue in the summer when the lodge will be open on weekends starting mid-June. Lynne Van Trieste reported the club had a busy year. Summer events included the roadside clean up, camp out, bike trip, Summer Solstice, and champagne brunch. October saw a total of seven events followed by Warren Miller in November, the annual holiday party in December, and ski trips to Sun Valley, Red Mountain, and Targhee.

Sockeye served up a yum meal complemented by several of their brews. After the usual business reports, Darryl presented the annual awards.

Bogus Basin Road Clean Up

Twenty-two club volunteers worked together to clean the top nine miles of Bogus Basin Road. The team, led by Jane Gabbert, included (in no particular order) Roz Muller, Vicki Kuebler, Ron Graff, Bill Young, Eileen Thuesen, Larry Crockett, Mary Pribble, Don Pribble, Doug Baker, Sue Baker, Sandra Hufsmith, Jim Reynolds, Carol Peterson, Craig and Lenna Olsen, Mark Thuesen, Guy Exon, Darryl Kuhrt, Paul Markowitz, and Ric and Grace Maddock.

With that number, we were able to put two people on each mile and still have drivers to haul us around and pick up the trash sacks. Also, with that number, we were able to finish in no time and move on to the after-party.

A beautiful day on the road

It’s a coyote!

This sack is getting heavy.

Some of the more surprising finds…a $5 bill, a 2011 Dotty Clark race number, a tire, chair, tent, and sleeping bag, along with a few unmentionables.

We cleaned up. A BIG thanks to Jane for once-again heading up the project and to all the volunteers who made it such a fun day.

The Crab Crack – Follow Up

By Fred Uranga First of all, I would like to acknowledge Dave Kopet and Michael Bouton as my co-chairmen. The 2015 Crab Crack faced many obstacles including changes in site location, double booking on the original date…which pushed it into March…well past the prime Dungeness crab

harvest. As an alternate, we decided to serve snow crab clusters and prime rib. We thank Dave Kopet, his wife Ranae, and his family members, relatives, and friends (all 9 of them) for cooking and serving the dinner and dessert.

Michael Bouton worked with the Modern Grind to provide four different brews and BBSC provided a selection of wines. Thanks to Michael and his wife, Julie Thomason, Pat and Bonnie Rice, Liz McWhorter, and Alicia Culbertson who crafted unique baskets. Other raffle items were donated

by Greg and Marsha Johnson (one day home brew workshop with breakfast, lunch, and beer tasting) and Ryan Thompson-Aja (a free 30-day membership to the Boise Racquet and Swim Club).

Thanks to the Board of Directors for pitching in to make this event a success. The Crab Crack has a long and fun history. Club minutes mention the second and third were held in March of 1982 and 1983. The hosts for those years were Bob and Betsy Gudmundsen at their home. Many changes occurred over the years, but the Crab Crack remains as one of our signature events.
