THE CONCEPT:
Smart Aid System + Stations revolution-ize public health by pairing a global health information network with a fl exible health-care station to provide everyday access to preventative medicine and unify existing healthcare systems. The Smart Aid Sta-tions create a community-based, open-source kit-of-parts that can grow and change over time to address health needs from local to regional to global. In conjunction with an app that connects
to the Smart Aid System, Smart Aid Stations fi ll in the missing links of the local healthcare network. Smart Aid Stations act as data collectors – feeding information into the global Smart Aid System blockchain network. This decentralized and secure network creates a publicly accessible data platform, facilitating analysis and communication across all healthcare stakeholders. By using the Smart Aid System + Stations, stakeholders can understand local public health issues using real-time data. The infi nite and reconfi gurable Smart Aid Stations can be customized to local needs.

WHAT IF you could remove the barriers. Block out what you’ve been told can’t be done. How often is an innovative design solution compromised due to codes and regulations, budget constraints, an unrealistic deadline, or reluctance to take a risk? Imagine if none of that were in play...
WHAT IF?
Healthcare Design announced a brand-
new conceptual design competition called Breaking Through.
Jurors evaluated all submissions
and selected TWO fi nalists.
43 submissions received from design
