Our sustainability performance

Energy efficiency, self-sufficiency and renewable energy Our carbon emission reduction (per unit of saleable production) reached 28% in 2015 against a 2004 basis. The share of renewable energy in the overall fuel consumption of our mills was 59% in 2015. Our electrical self-sufficiency reached 103% in 2015.

Water In 2015 we reduced our contact water consumption by 5% against a 2010 basis.

Forestry All the wood that we source is Chain-of-Custody certified either to FSC® or PEFC™ standards (66% in 2015) or meets our company’s minimum requirement that complies with the standard for Controlled Wood

Communities Since 2010 we have invested around €68 million in social projects and community initiatives globally.

Climate change Water Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges. Our climate commitment focuses on improving energy efficiency and replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy where feasible.

Forests are essential for our business and for the communities in which we operate, and wood is one of our primary raw materials. We are committed to: responsible, sustainable manage-
