Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 56th annual Morgan Park Summer Music Festival!
My mother Marguerite Suozzi has been involved with MPSMF since its inception and has served as Chairman for most of its existence. She announced her retirement earlier this fall and the Executive Committee asked that I succeed her. I accepted.
My mother will continue to serve on the Executive Board as Chairman Emeritus and will organize the annual Young Performers Competition, which henceforth is fittingly known as The Marguerite Suozzi Young Performers Talent Competition.
Our free concert series, which has grown from hosting one concert in 1959, now offers concerts every Sunday in July and August. Concerts originally held under the iconic gazebo are now held on our beautiful new stage that was designed, constructed and overseen by my mother and her fabulous volunteers, and was funded entirely through private donations. Taxpayer money is not requested nor received to bring this high caliber festival to you.
Volunteers, private contributions and concert sponsors continue to be the lifeblood of this free music series. My mom said when she announced she was stepping down, “Volunteers are the heart of Morgan Park Summer Music Festival. I can never thank them enough for all that they have done, both for me personally and for the Festival. It has been a fun and rewarding 55 years, but it is now time to pass the baton.”
I would like to once again thank my mother for her example and for her many years of dedication to MPSMF. I am excited to carry on this proud tradition of introducing new generations to all genres of music -- from American pops and jazz to swing, opera, ballet and more recently tribute bands. I am grateful to the entire MPSMF Team as they continue their support for the Festival.
Finally, a special thanks to all of you. Enjoy the show!

Glen Cove, lonG Island, new York
Many long Island communities have cherished traditions but few can boast of the longevity of an enterprise such as Morgan Park
summer Music Festival. Managed by a volunteer committee and supported entirely through dona-tions from individuals and local businesses, this summer MPsMF continues its beloved tradition of free summer concerts in Morgan Park into a 56th season.
Morgan Park was donated to the people of Glen Cove in 1932 by J.P. Morgan in memory of his wife. But it wasn’t until 1959, when Joseph a. suozzi was mayor of Glen Cove, that free concerts in the park were suggested. Mayor suozzi enlisted Mrs. richardson Pratt and she in turn involved her friends and neighbors. Morgan Park summer Music Festival was born beginning with one concert that first summer, expanding over the years to offer performances
every weekend in July and august. eventually the park’s charming gazebo proved to be inadequate for
Morgan Park 2015 Glen Cove, lonG Island, new York
some of the larger concerts so Marguerite (Marge) suozzi and a team of volunteers came up with strategies that raised money for the beautiful new stage. The stage, as the concerts, was funded entirely through private donations.
MPsMF has always enjoyed a close relationship with the City of Glen Cove, neither asking for nor receiving financial support. season planning and meeting the budget to present the concerts are entirely the responsibility of the executive committee, often with the assistance of members of the advisory council. The executive committee enjoys the leadership of longtime members such as Margaret
Minnick and nancy epstein who, with Mrs. suozzi, have been pivotal to the organization’s governance for decades, and others who are newer supporters, bringing new talents to MPsMF. This is the first MPsMF season under new leadership. last fall our long-time chairman, Mrs. suozzi, with the unanimous approval of the members of the executive committee, passed the baton to her son, Tom suozzi.
