MoveMent DayGreater Dallas 2015iMpact report
Dear Co-laborers and Friends,
on January 22, 2015, the second annual Movement Day Greater Dallas conference was held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center attracting over 2,000 leaders and recording the highest attendance of any Movement Day gathering to date. the movement that began over a year ago continues to expand its influence and build momentum while representing diverse constituencies under this year’s theme of unity.
the day provided a testimony to our opportunity to join hands in bringing down racial barriers, addressing poverty,
loving the poor, serving our fellow citizens, and transforming our cities with the Gospel. It represented a visual actualization of our overarching theme (unity) and our process of working together.
I want to thank you for your participation in this gospel movement. Please continue to spread the good news about what God is doing through Movement Day. something special and dynamic is taking place through each of us who have committed to work together. We hope that you will continue to support our transformational work throughout the year and gather together again early in 2016. through our united prayers, faith, and work, our cities are improving, and our Lord is being magnified. I love you all.
With confidence in Him,
Jon edmonds, executive DirectorMovement Day Greater Dallas

Bryan Carter,SeniorPastorofConcordChurch,Dallas,TX,“Reconciliation is at the core of the Gospel. If we don’t care about it on a spiritual level, how can we care about it on a racial level? And how can we say we care about what God cares about? But, who is responsible for ending racism? Most said police, schools, and government. God says: The Church.”

Dr. Froswa’ Booker-Drew,NationalCommunityEngagementDirectorUSPrograms,WorldVision,“In order to create change in communities, it is important for individuals from diverse backgrounds and views to come together to discover, learn and share their experiences. Collaboration is critical in order to make the necessary changes for growth.”
Dr. Jeff Warren,SeniorPastorofParkCitiesBaptistChurch,Dallas,TX,“If we do not know people of color, we cannot say we love people of color. You cannot love who you do not know…The core of our identity has to be Jesus, not our racial label.”
Bob Doll,ChiefEquityStrategist,NuveenAssetManagement,“Dallas is globally significant…It hosts the largest urban arts center in the world, 21 of the top 100 Forbes businesses, a medical community with 6 Nobel Laureates, a center for politics and global transportation, and one of the highest concentrations of wealthy and poor. I challenge the marketplace leaders to regard their work as a high calling from God and to act to help transform our workplaces, and in turn, our cities.”

“I appreciated the cultural awareness that was shared at the plenary sessions. Sometimes we get so involved in our organization, efforts, and mission that we can forget to look outside the window of a moving train. There are many opportunities around us and a shifting culture.”
“Bryan Carter & Jeff Warren were incredible. They gave tangible ways to close the gap between the racial divide in churches and made growing a real and positive thing for our city! Being a millennial, I would have loved them to speak in the evening session and make this construct a talk directed at young people.”
“I was VERY impressed!”
“How passionate and powerful the delivery of each speaker was, it was phenomenal.”
“Chip Ingram was so helpful in sharing the nuts and bolts of rreconciliation & restoration. It gave me much hope it could happen here.”
“My heart was quickened to visit churches that don’t look like I do.”
“It is not very often that the worship at these kind of gatherings proves to be satisfying, but I truly enjoyed this one.”
“I loved the panels. I thought the questions were good, and I loved hearing different perspectives.”
“There was a point in Jon Edmonds’ closing remarks last night when I realized that part of the reason God moved me to Dallas in 1996 is to be involved in this movement.”
“The group interaction and networking that took place was extremely valuable.”
“We must all work together.”
“Matt Chandler was exceptional, timely and very challenging. As a millennial myself I thought he was the perfect speaker for the audience and the evening message. Excellent choice for a speaker anytime though, he is truly gifted by God.”
Chip Ingram,SeniorPastor,VentureChristianChurch,Losgatos,CA,“We’re not here to glorify a movement. We’re here to glorify God. We must die to ourselves, and we must follow Him. Only then can we begin to make a difference. We can’t export what we don’t have.”
Dr. K. Shelette Stewart,Director-ExecutiveEducation,SMUCoxSchoolofBusiness,“We are called to serve as God’s ambassadors on the earth. Movement Day…is a wonderful opportunity to inform, inspire, and empower…!”
